For County Treasurer.
I reipeotfMJly snnonncc myself _
cnndldate lor (he offleo of Treasurer
of Taylor conniy, subject to the Dem.
ocratic nomination If any Is made.
W. P. CALDWELL.
HERE AND TUQUE!
Last Bun'day was a bright and
pleasant day.
We are sorry to shite that Mr.
fe. G.Tomlin, lost a wry fine mule
last week.
Rev. T, H. Stout, of Talbottbn,
preached a very interesting ser
mon in the Baptist church on last
Wednesday night,
Let all who owe us that little
subscription bill, come prepared
in some Way next week to pay it,
A Very fine rain occurred last
Friday evening;it was much need
ed to fhll Vegetation.
Taylor Superior Court begins
next Monday, abd many persons
will be judged according to their
deeds.
From present indications we
judge that one of our young men
Will soon enter into house-keep
ing; the bedding we learn has al
ready been spoken for.
Another suck-egg dog is broke
—a fine cow belonging to Mr. A.
M. Walker,being so heavily loaded
with hnck-shot by some one, she
instantly yielded to its inflnence.
On account of the inclemency ot
the weather,we suppose, there was
no meeting of the citizen on last
Friday night, according to an an
nouncement made in last weeks'
isBue, by the Mayor of Butler, tor
the benefit of the yellow feVer
sufferers.
We ask the careful attention of
our readers to the advertisement
lu another eolnmn of the Cannon
House, kept by Mrs. E. W. Jeter
It is truly an honor to our town
And should he partronized by the
entire traveling publio.
It is a pleasure to us to state
that our columns are now crowd
ed with now and reliable adver
tisements and our readers should
read them all carefully; several
new ones are crowded out of this
issue but will appear next week.
Among those of whom we present
this week, U-that ol J. M. W.
Christian, who keeps a neat bar
constantly supplied with the best
wines and brandies the market af
fords, and his resterauot is uusui-
passed. Don't fail to give him a
call and enjoy a good meal when
you visit Macon.
Rutter Cotton Market.
Cotton opened last week at 9
cents for middling cctton, and
closed on Saturday evening at 9^.
Receipts this season up to Satur
day evening, 678 hales,
Another New Discovery,
After several years of a very gooih
natured, loose way of doing business,
[ discover, that I owe more persons,
than I don’t owe, and that my credits
ors are signifying that 1 must settle,
or hunt new lVicuds. And as 1 am
too poor to move, and furthermore
discover, that I am brought faro to
face with the fact, “that, something
must bo did,” I therefore make an
appeal lo those who owe mo,—espec
ially to those who have tor several
year's remained In arrears. I feel fitly
greatfut for the patronage of the ilea r
public, and if we could all now square
up,l feel that 1 should ho glad enough
to treat all round, and then like a
clever IVHow go along and have the
fun of the credit business, all over
again,
1 hope this Will not he tnken ns a
joke, and X intend to so apply myself
to the subject, ns that no such mis
takes will'bo made.
So after dog-days, and camp-'ncet-
iugs arc over, 1 shall have an ear fi
response, JOHN WALKER.

We regret to announce the death
of Miss Sarah Amerson, which oc
curred on last Friday morning at
the residence of her father,in this
county, near Reynolds. She was
a bright, heatuiful and acoom-
plished young lady, who hut a few
days previous to her death, was
in the bloom of health, We learn
the cause of her death was thought
to have been from congestion,
Mexico and United ta ten.
Owing to tlielr worm and delight
fill climates, their inhabitants grow
sallow from torpid Livers Indigestion
and all diseases arising from a disor
