A Final Building.
Quite es.fly on yesterday morn
ing ia taking our usual morning
walk, >e passed the residence ot
Mrs. 'Caldwell, and observed one ol
the neatest four room cottage but d
irgs we have ever seen;in front and
k> the right, is a beautitul bay
window, while to the left extends
a commodious loom fronted by an
elegaat colonnade, We satire build-
iug being surrounded with beauti
ful anu substantial moulding, and
altogether completed with all the
modem improvements of the art
of architecture. It is now in th,
set.of completion, the contract
for building having beeu let to Mr
D. 6; Dunbar, ot Houston enun-
f jr, and reflects great credit to the
gentlemen who have been, actively
engaged ia b-iilding the same. By.
those who have more thoroughly ex
amined it, we are informed
that better work has never been
executed in Butler. Being sitna-
ttd near the ra-lroad, passers by
can but admire this building. The
old structure is now being rapidly
torn away and the new building
will soon present a handsome ap-
pesranoe.
There is also in progress of erec
tion a neat tour room dwelling near
the college, which will be conqilet-
id shout the first of March. The
mntraot hss been let to Mr. John
Anderson, an efficient workman.

you v^ii p ar don any blunders. The
object of iny letter is to open th.
' ,yes of the citisens of Reynolds to
justice. It may sound veryuupiees-
ant to some of my readers, but
the truth must be told.
Some time just before the doss
of last year, the trustees of the
Reynold* Academy had a meeting
and elected Dr. Smith as principal
for the year Ist-O, and after the
old gentleman had gone to the ex
pens- of removing his family to
this place, renting a honsr to sh. 1-
ter hi* wife and little ones, and
more than all, led him to. believe
that he h«d a situation until every
oilier vacancy was filled. Ami
now they are ueeing every thing in
their power to uproot him.
Is it unreaso'.able for me to a.k
why? They certainly havenu rea
son under the Bun for their action.
Dr.fimuh is a go. d'. moral und
religious man, have juu any objec
tions to- that?
Dr. Smith is a miniates ot' the
Methodist church, but can, any
mao say that he tsachas ol illirsn

think Dr. Smith de-reB to fill the
minds of the children in his charge
with useful knowledge, knowledge
of the different branches of etu y.
We are due Dr. Smith appoiogies;
nuw let us make them by our pat
