In Athens Fire
ATHENS, Ga., June 22—An Ath
ens man smashed his way into a
trailer early Thursday to save its
four occupants from an almost sure
death.
James L. Farr, 30, was returning
from a visit in a nearby town
when he saw smok6 boiling from a
breezeway that connected a cross
roads store and a trailer the store’s
owners used as a home.
Farr told’ firemen that just as he
pulled up to the store the breeze
way blazed up. He said he jumped
from his car and broke into the
trailer by smashing his fist through
a window in the door.
He pulled Mrs. Hughie White out
of the trailer and shouted to awak
en the other occupants, her hus
band and two sons, John 16, and
Jack, 23. /
Both the trailer and the breeze
way were destroyed, but Athens
firemen saved the brick store.
Asst. Fire Chief Max Pinson laud
ed Farr for his heroic action, say
ing his quick response undoubted
