Veterans Widows
Of All Wars May be
Eligible for Pension
Atlanta, Ga. — Widows of all de
ceased veterans of all wars are en
titled to a pension unless they ex
ceed income or assets limitations
or have remarried, Veterans Serv
ice Director Pete Wheeler reiter
ated this week.
The amount of the pension which
will be paid widows by the VA
when the veteran had no service
connected disability is determined
by a sliding scale depending on
the widow’s other income, he said.
Children of deceased veterans
are also entitled to pensions, and
in many cases may be awarded a
pension even if the widow is dis
qualified because of excessive in
come or because she has remarried.
Widows should not attempt to
determine for themselves whether
they are eligible for a pension, re
gardless of circumstances, but
should call at an office of the Ga.
Department of Veterans Service for
assistance or advice.
As with al veteran’s benefits,
each case must be decided on its
own merit and it is difficult to
properly appraise a given case
solely from the generalities govern
ing the basic provisions.
The nearest office of the Ga.
Department of Veterans Services is
located in Butler.

IT'S EASY TO BUILD AN ELECTROSCOPE, BUT
how do you build an Edison?
One of the best examples of free enterprise at
work was Thomas Alva Edison, who was born
on February 11, 1847.
Combining his curiosity with hard work, he
invented an unbelievable number of useful
items. He held 1,100 patents — more than any
man before or since — and gave the world the
phonograph, motion picture, fluoroscope and
incandescent lamp. He initiated laboratories,
factories, the first electric utility system.
Today, in an era threatened by socialism,
it is good to look back at what was done by one
man, to re-evaluate our American heritage and
to rededicate ourselves to preserving free en
terprise. It is the only system in the world
that can produce another Edison.
HOW TO BUILD AN ELECTROSCOPE: To
the Edisons of the future, the Georgia Power
Company offers, “Electric Experiments You
Can Do.” It tells how to build an electroscope.
Just mail the coupon.
