his house. Ho humbly bugs Mr K.
to send for him, and promisas to be

to tell the people, while anu black,

The negro worked very hard to can y

and we hope Mr. K. will let him re

profit.

the meeting.
Cep*. Stanford addressed the meet
ing, in a forcible speech, on the polit
ical condition of the country. Ha was
follow.d by Judge Hudson, whose
remarks on the necessity of united
effort on the part ot the Democratie
party, were well put. Col. Mob ey
spoke well on the necessity of re
trenchment and reform, nnd of the
beauty of sacrificing personal am
bitious desires to the public good.
On motion of Col. Mdbley, 'be
present Sub Executive Committee

the meeting adjourned.

charged with horse stealing, was

The Slate versus Dan Ottslcy,
John Brooks nnd Wesley Crirn, three
negroes, charged with bfirglary in
the night tune, were found guilty.
Dan and John were sentenced to
eight months on the chain gange
The counsol asked for mercy on the
part of Wesley and lie was sentenced
to six months on the (lain jaig.
The jail is now clear of prisoners
except the last named negroes, who
will probably bo sent away very
soon.

threats that lie would not go to the
penitentiary, Judge Crawford had an
extra guard placed at the jail oti
Wednesday r.iglit, and he was sent
to Columbus Thursday morning for
satin keeping. Ho has by'this time
arrived at the Dade coal mine, where
he lias gone to work out his sentence.

greatly surprised if The Times does
not soon distance all the Georgia
dailies in enterprise and tact, as well
as in work of collecting and dissemi
nating the news. They have our
