SI A YEAR.
THE SUN FOR 1881.
•
Everybody reads The Bnn. In Ibe edi
tions of this newspaper throughout the year
to come evervtavtv will find:
I. All the world’s news, so presented that
ti e reader will get the grei test amount 01 in
'urination with the least unprofitable expen
diture ot time and eyesight. Tbe Sun long
aco discovered the golden mean between re
dundant fulness and unsntlsiactorv brevity.
11. Much of that sort of news which de
pends less upon its lecogniz and important e
tlmn upon its interest to mankind. Fom
morning to 11 oruing The Sun prints a con
tinued story of the liv* ot teal men and wo
men, aud of their deeds, plans, loves, hates,
Hnn troubles. This story is more valid ami
more interesting than any romance than was
ever devised.
111. Good writing In every column, ami
freshness, originality, accuracy, and decor
um in the treutiuent of every subject.
IV. Honest comment,. Tbe Sun's habit is
to speak out about men and things
V. Equal candor in dealing witn each po
litical party, and equal readiness to commend
what is praise worthy 01 to rebuke what is
blauuihlc in Democrat or Republican,
VI. Absolute indojierulenoe of pirtisnn or
ganizatsons, but unwavering totally to trim
Democratic principles. Tee Sun believes
that the Government which the Constitu'ion
gives us is a go* a I one to keep lb* notion ot
untv Is to resit to its utmost power the ef
forts ot men lu the Reputilicun party to set
up another form of government in pluc* of
that which exi.ts The year 1881 and the
years irumedially following will probably de
cide this supremely ini|k>rtant contest. The
run lauieves that the victory will be with
the people as against the Ring* for monopoly
the Rings for plunder, and the Rings for im
pel iai power.
