home from the University, where she
has just received her A. B. degree,
majoring in journalism.

down at Laguna Beach, Panama

Mrs. Robert I. Scott, Jr., and lit
tle son, Bobby, are visiting relatives
at West Point Military Academy
and Eellerose, L. I., New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Alma White and
children, Jacqueline, Harrell, Peggy
and Barbara, spent last Thursday at
Long Beach, Panama City, Fla.
Mrs. R. M. Underwood is here

returned home, after spending Canada,
some time vacationing in

Mrs. C. E.. Gunthorpe arrived
Wednesday from Atlanta to be with
her mother, Mrs. G. F. Pickle, who
is undergoing treatment in a Dothan
hospital.
Mrs. W. A. Radney, of Century,
Fla., spent several days here the
past week with her son and daugh
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Radney,
and Mrs. Ed Minter.
Misses Gayle and Stetha Lee
Chambers, of Hilton, left Thursday
for an extended visit to relatives in
Washington, D. C., Lenardtown,
Md., and Norfolk, Va.
Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Duke have
returned from a vacation trip to
Cuba - and Florida. Mr. and ^“ s

panied them on the trip.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jones and
children have returned to their
home in Los Angeles, Calif., after
sneding a week at Colomokee with
Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Corley.
Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Godwin spent
Sunday in Donalsonville with their
daughter, Mrs. James Renfroe, who
is recupererating from a recent op
eration at the Baxley Hospital.
Blakely and Kolomoki Mounds
came in for some real publicity the
past Saturday afternoon, when WSB
broadcast a radio transcription
made from atop of the mounds.
Featured on the program were Dr.
J. G. Standifer and Chamber of
Commerce Secretary R. C. Job, and
Brad Crandall and Miss Jane SparKs
of the WS'B staff.
Miss Annette Alexander is spend
ing several weeks in San Antonio,
Texas.
Miss Ouida Benton, of Newton,
Ala., is spending some time with her
sister, Mrs. Sammie Denton.
Harrell White returned home
last Wednesday, after spending sev
eral days with Ronny Harrell at
Donalsonville, Ga.
Roy Pritchard, of the U. S. Para
troopers, Fort Benning, is spending
a furlough here with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. C. R. Pritchard.
Mrs. Alma White and children,
Jacqueline, Peggy and Barbara,
spent Wednesday with Mr. and
Mrs. W. R. Harrell, at Donalsonville.
Mrs. Lee W. Jackson had as her
guest the past week end her sister,
Mrs. Hilton Phillips, and children,
of Donalsonville.

Pfc. George Temples returned
from Korea by plane the past_ week.
He is spending his furlough with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Branch Tem
ples, and expects to be discharged
from the Army within a few weeks.

Fryer, who is to be married August
1. with a novel coca-cola party.
The bride-elect was presented with a
lovely corsage. Several bridal con
test games were enjoyed by the
guests, with prizes going to the win
ners. The honor guest was present

supper the guests enjoyed dancing.

decoration on the dining room table.

Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Calhoun, of
Sanford, Fla., announce the engage
ment of their daughter, Effie Vir
ginia Calhoun, to Honore S. Camp
bell, of Charleston, S. C.
Miss Calhoun attended public
schools in Sanford High School in
1939 and later attended Norman
Junior College, Norman Park, Ga.
She was cashier in Boyett’s Depart
ment Store, in Blakely, Ga., for
some time. She is at present em
ployed by the Southern Bell Tele
phone Company of Sanford.
Mr. Campbell completed his edu
cation in Charleston, S. C., and has
been connected with the Charleston
Navy Yard for the past five years.
The wedding will take place Aug
ust thirty-first, in Savannah, Ga.
The couple will make their home
in Charleston.
