Celebration 9 To Be Presented
An original production of 'A
Christinas Madrigal Celebration at
the Home of Charles Wesley', will be
presented by the Andrew College
Carolers on Sunday, December sth at
3:00 P.M. at the Blakely Woman’s
Club.
Charles Wesley, who wrote 8,989
hymns and poems, hosts a 1750
Christmas dinner in his home. Guests
are entertained with singing and dan*
cing.
The scene is the parlor of the
Wesley's home in Bristol, England.
All the music is what might have been

Babysitting Service
For
Christmas Shoppers
For all Christmas shoppers, there will be a Free
Babysitting service on December 4th, 11th, 18th.
Shoppers will be invited to bring their children
ages 4 and up to Sim’s building on Court Square
from the hours of 9:30 a.m. until noon.
We will provide the children with games and
movies to keep them occupied. Santa Claus will
also be present at each of these events, a picture
may be taken with Santa for a nominal fee.
We hope that you will take advantage of this
service by bringing your children to the Sim's
building on December 4th, 11th, and 18th.

used in the 1750's -Bach, Handel,
madrigals, dancing and English
carols. Prominently featured is the
first performance of "Hark, How All
the Wilkin Rings” with its original
music. Later it was known as "Hark,
the Herald Angels Sing” to a tune by
Mendelssohn.
It is with great pleasure that the
Community Service League is spon
soring this event. We each extend to
everyone, young and old alike, a

afternoon for this delightful musical
presentation.

CSS Chattahoochee
The Early County Historical Society
will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday,
December 6, at the Old Lucile Road
home of Ann and Robert Swift. This
location is about P* miles south of the
Southside Baptist Church. It will be
identified by a sign, “Historical Socie
ty", by the roadside.
The program will be presented by
Mr. Bob Holcombe, Curator of the
Confederate Naval Museum at Col
umbus, Georgia. Mr. Holcombe is a
native of Cochran, Georgia, a
graduate of Georgia Southern College
at Statesboro, and has worked at the
Thanksgiving Dinner/Family Reunion
Seventy-one descendants of the late
Eddie A. Parker enjoyed a wonderful
day getting reacquainted and meeting
the new additions to the family. They
gathered in a dining hall at Kolomoki
State Park.

Beauty Contest
The Blakely Jaycees will be having
a Womanless Beauty Contest Dec. 3rd
at the American Legion. This will be
in conjunction with the Little Miss
Blakely Jaycette Contest. All the Fun
and Goodtimes start at 7:30. If any
young man would like to compete

Confederate Naval Museum for the
last nine year. He will have informa
tion on the remains of the two Con
federate warships on display, the
ironclad Jackson (or Muscogee) and
the gunboat Chattahoochee. The lat
ter was built at the Navy Yard at Saf
fold, here in Early County. Mr.
Holcombe’s program will also deal
with naval operations on the Chat
tahoochee River during the Civil War
and with a recent underwater survey
for additional relics in the river near
Columbus.

Camerata Chorus To Present
Christmas Concert December 5
The annual Christmas Concert
presented by the Camerata Chorus
will be December 5,1982, at First Bap
tist Church in Eufaula. There will be
two performances - 5:30 & 7:30 CT.
This year’s concert will feature an
opening number composed by Drew-
Bennett of Georgetown. Following
this composition the Camerata
Chorus, under the direction of Mrs
Cynthia Balkcom, will sing several
Christmas songs including "God’s
Gift of Love” and "Glory Hallelu”.
A special feature of this concert will
be the Eufaula Men's Chorus. Their
selections include "I Wonder as I

Wander" and "Do You Hear What I
Hear”. Mrs. Debbie Kirk is the direc
tor of the men's chorus.
The combined choruses will con
clude the concert with several selec
tions from "The Messiah”.
The accompanists for the concert
include Mrs. Elizabeth Darden,
pianist from Blakely, Georgia: Mrs.
Norma Earnest, pianist of Eufaula:
and Dr. William Denison, organist
from Troy State University.
This year's concert promises to be
one of the best yet and everyone is in
vited to attend.
