“Small favors thankfully re
ceived.’— Since the first iucipiency of
the Cartersville & Van Wert Railroad,
the columns of our paper have been
opened to advance the enterprise, for
which we charged nothing—we have
published calls for meetings, printed
handbills, and, in every way, freely
used out printer’s ink to get the en
i> rprise a *. 0.1 g. We don’t regret
doing end saying what we have done
and said, and hope still to do and say
much more in the future to advance
the interests of said road; but to the
point: A few days since one of the
employees of the road came into our
office and called for the handbills that
Air. Hears, the contractor for grading,
had ordered to be printed. No one
had engaged ns to do the work, and
tiu* employee went away disappointed.
Since then, we learn, that the handbills
were printed from home. We know
who had it done. That individual is
our friend (J)
Georgia-Made AVagon. —About as fine
a specimen of road wagon as we have
seen lately was standing in front of
Hall, Aloses & Cos. ’s yesterday. It was
made at Cartersville, Ga.
Our brother local of the Columbus
Daily Enquirer, from which the above
is clipped, forgot to mention that the
aforesaid wagon was put up by Messrs.
Gower, Jones & Cos., of this place, at
their extensive Carriage, Buggy and
A agon Manufactory and Repository ;
[ and this is, by no means, the first time
that their work has been spoken of and
admired from home. It is universally

j Guano haunts you. Ts you desire a
drayman for any special purpose, you
| can t get in a rod of him for the smell
lof guano. It seems to be in every- 1
I thing—everywhere, and in everybody’s
mouth. Meet a man from the country,
and the fiist question he ask you is, j
“how much guano are you going to j
buy this spring ? It saved me last
year; I am going to try it again,” Ac. j
If the mania for guano continues, ;
Bradfield’s Female Regulator will be j

Pay Torn Debts. —Let every one
who owes anything pay r it, if he can, if
not, pay a part; show a good will to set
tle with those you owe, aud all will be
| more pleased with each other. Conli
| deuce would be restored, aud hearts
and pocket-books would be opened,
; and the money-holder would lend to
the honest and industrious, we would
j have no use for Homestead laws, and
and the money of Georgia would be
kept at home, and not sent from her
borders to be invested among stran
gers. Holy wi'it says, “Owe n: man
anything.” Let us come as near it as
possible. Go pay.
The cotton, short and long staple,
Rice and lumber of Georgia, together
with her Pig metal, castings and man
ufactured goods, the productions of
| 1869, cannot be less than fifty-five
millions of dollars. A hat has become
of it? Not more than thirty millions
j have been spent at home. Has not
unfriendly legislation against capital,
driven twenty-five millions abroad for
investment ?
Within a mile or so of our depot, is
