A Terrible Thunder Storm.
For several, days previous to tlio 80th
ult. the air in tlio vicinity of Kingston,
Now York, had been excessively charged
with electricity, the result of the great
heat. Saturday night one of tho most
grand mid terrible thunder storms on rec
ord broke over the town, during the per
formance of Bailey’s circus troupe before
tut audience of about six thousand people.
A bolt descended at about 8 p. lit:, strik
ing tlio South Bide of the tent near the top.
making a tremendous relit, nnd passing
through nnd across tho tent, whore -it
struck and shivered i> tree standing just
outside!
Near tho tree was a peach vender’s wag
on, around which a crowd of'people had

Tho scene within tlio tent is described
as one of tho most terrible ever witnessed

were so safely confined ns to defy their
frantic efforts to escape. • .
To ndd to the confusion tho rain begttn
to descend lift torrents, and when the au-
dienco, after pushing nnd pressing, got out
doors, they were thoroughly drenched in
a moment. After a time, when tho killed
ndd wounded had been removed, tlio per-
fotmnnce wns resumed, hut to a very slim
audience.
