The body of nn Indian squaw has been
found at Cascade Lake iu Nevada. A
fisherman discovered one of the hands
protriiding from the sand on the beach,
and in a Bhort time unearthed a woman
in a complete state of petrifaction. The
petrifaction had a hideous appearance,
and tho body must originally have be
longed to a shriveled, sickly woman.
The left breast wns well developed, but
tho arms and legs were not much larger
than tho bones would havo been, and the

petrifaction weighed nearly two hun
dred pound*.
Death From a Wasp Sting.
A short time ago, at Goldburg, Ger
many, a farm hand, while eating his mid
day meal, consisting of bread, cheese nnd
milk, which had been sent out to him
frojn his master’s kitchen, took a wasp
into his mouth, and, although he prompt
ly spat It out, tlm creature found time to
plant its sting in tho back of his throat
before he could get rid of it. The Interior
of tho unfortunate man’s larynx swelled
so rapidly that iu ten minutes inter he
died of suffocation, after enduring terrible
agonies in tho vain endeavor to breathe
nnd to forco opon the air passages in his
throat. A'surgcon, who had been sent
for without loss of timo, arrived within a
quarter of an hour from tho timo at which
tho sting had been inflicted, only to find
a corpse, surrounded by horror-stricken
peasants.
