Atlanta, Ga., August 19.—Wil

Georgia Cotton Mill company,
shot and killed himself at his of

sitting in his private office and
had been conversing with his of'

ball, entering his mouth, ranged
upward, penetrating the brain and
caused instant death. No cause
for the act has been given.
Rome, Ga., August 19.—T. E.
McGuire was run over by a south
bound passenger train on the Wes

morning at 9:30 o’clock near
Kingston and was instantly killed.
McGuire was on his way to King

driving two horses and attempted
to cross in front of the train. His
body was fearfully mangled, his
head was cut off and his brains
scattered along the track. A lit'

THE KATYDID.
(Dedioated to Bob Timmons with
apologies to Kiser of the Record-Her
aid).
The Katydids are back again
I hear them, but, alas!
They do not thrill me with the sounds
They make There in the grass
And on the branches where the leaves
Will Boon be turning brown;
The summers’ waning and the rich
Are going back to town.
I once had pleasing fancies when
The Katydids returned,
I conjured up romances in
Which they were much concerned ;
I thought it was a song they sang,
A song of love indeed;
In fancy I could seem to see
A knight on every weed
But Shope has dispelled my dreams,
I toss about at night
Asd here the raucous sounds without
And vainly harbor spite—
I wish all katydids were meat
For old Beelzebub;
.1 know now that they do not sing,
But merely sit and rub.

T. G. Morgan, a veteran con
ductor on the Western and Atlan
tic railroad, who is well known in
Chattanooga, was instantly killed
Monday afternoon while drilling a
well on his farm about three miles
from Ringgold, Ga. The full
particulars of the accident have
not yet been received, but from
meager reports it appears that Mr.
Morgan was caught in some ma;
chinery about the well driller and
was thrown violently against a
stationary section of the machine,
crushing his skull. Mr. Morgan
recently purchased the farm near
Ringgold, preparatory to retiring
from active work on the road.
Erwin Lester, formerly of Ma-
- ri^tta, was found dead in the foyer
of the old Star theatre, on Deca
tur street, last night by Patrolman
J. B. Wilson. He had evidently
been dead for some time before
his bod}' was discovered, and his
death is supposed to have been
produced by natural causes. His
body was removed to the under
taking •stablishment of Swift &
Hall, on Mitchell street, and Cor
oner Stamps may hold an inquest.
Lester was a son of the late
Judge Geo. N. Lester, and was
well connected. He had been
around Atlanta for a long while,
and was fairly well known to a
number of people.
Augusta, Ga., August 19.—
Private James A. Sapp, of the
Augusta arsenal, was found dead
under a pine tree near the filter

works, on Monte Sauo, this after
noon. Sapp had been a sergeant
for several years, and head book
keeper at the arsenal. Sapp had
been absent fyorn his post of duty
for several days, and the midday
mail today brought a letter to Col.
D. A. Lyle, the commandant, tel
ling him where he could find Sapp’s
body. The letter was written by
Sapp himself, and the oolonel sent
out a searching party, and the
body was found, just as indicated
in the note. Sapp had taken mor
phine and was dead several hours
when found. .Sapp was quite a
trap shooter and well known
throughout the state. He was re
duced from commissary sergeant
to second-class private for neglect
of duty on account of drinking.

Hyomei Goes to the Root of the Dis
ease and Makes Astonishing Cures.
Catarrh cannot be cured by the
use of pill, liquid medicines and
so-called system tonics. Under
such treatment the germs of the
disease will still live in the air
passages and increase and multiply.
Hyomei is the only scientific
and thorough way to cure catarrh.
Killing the germs in the air pas
sages, it enters the blood with the
oxygen, destroys the microbes in
in the blood and effectually drives
from the system all traces of cas
tarrhal poison.
Probably the strongest evidence
that can be offered as to the pow*»
ers of Hyomei to cure catarrh is
the fact that Hightower Drug Co.,
will agree to refund the money if
you say Hyomei lias not cured
you.
The complete Hyomei outfit
costs but $1.00 and consists of an
inhaler that can be carried in the
vest pecket, a medicine dropper
and a bottle of Hyomei. The in
haler lasts a lifetime, and if one
bottle does not cure, an extra bot
tle of Hyomei can be obtained for
60 cents.
