Kappa Alphas Entertained.
Mr. Manly McWilliams entertained
informally for the members of the Kap-
pa Alpha college fraternity who reside
■n Dalton, on Monday evening ait his
home on North Thornton avenue. The
evening was pleasantly spent in remi-
niscenses from the older men and re
ports from the ones in college as to
the work that is being done, the occa
sion being one of genuine pleasure to
all.
Among the invited guests were
Messrs. Frank Manly, Walter Jones, C.
j. McCarny, Poul B. Trammell, Jr.,
fosiah Crudup, Jr., Broadus Farrar,
Frank Easley, Earl Wood, Bob McCamy
and Monton Huff.
After the talks, refreshments were
served. .

Mrs. Smith Complimented.
Mrs. H. L. Smith and Mrs. Lamar
Weseott entertained at an informal
bridge party Wednesday afternoon at
Mrs. Smith’s home on Thornton ave
nue, the affair being in compliment to
Mrs. L. P. Smith, of Chattanooga.
The home was artistically decorated
in holly and mistletoe, and the game
was played ‘with interest at three tab
les. After the game, a salad course
and an ice were served ait the card
tables. The hostesses were assisted
in entertaining by Mrs. C. W. Moore
and Miss Helen Hollingsworth.

Mrs. J. P. Herndon entertained
Wednesday afternon at an informal
tea in compliment to her sister, Mrs.
Will Davidson, of Savannah.

Miss Corine Stroud, of Murray coun
ty, and Mr. Allen Vaughn, of this city,
were married last Sunday at Eton, the
ceremony being performed by ’Squire
Chris Shields.
Mrs. Vaughn is an attractive
daughter of Mr. and .Mrs. Will Stroud,
of near Sumach, and Mr. Vaughn is
a popular automobile mechanic of this
city. They have the best wishes of
their many friends in their new rela
tion.

Christian Endeavor Social.
A delightful social feature of Christ
mas week was a party given Tuesday
evening.by the Christian Endeavor So
ciety of the Presbyterian church in
honor of its members who are home
from college for the holidays.
Games were enjoyed, and afterwards
delicious refreshments were served.
About forty young people were en
tertained.

ley, -two popular and well known young
people of the Fincher district, were
married Christmas day at the home of
’Squire R. A. Williams, just east of
the city, 'Squire Williams performing

Christmas Dance.
One of the most delightful events of
the holiday season was the Christmas
dance Monday evening at the Dalton
Country club, given by the young men
of the city in honor of the many charm
ing visitors here for the holidays.
The Imperial Players of Chattanooga,
assisted by Mr. R. D. Hurt, of 'this
city, rendered the inspiring dance mu
sic, and there were about one-hundred
and fifty present to enjoy the occasion.

The Woman's Auxiliary of the First
Presbyterian church will entertain at
a New Year’s reception next Monday
evening at 7:30 o’clock, at the Presby
terian manse on Thornton avenue The

quently visited as the guest of her
sister, Mrs. E. D. Anderson, and has
many friends and admirers:
A beautiful home wedding, solemn
ized this morning at 9:30 o’clock at
the residence of ’the bride’s parents,
Mr and Mrs. J. W. Nesbitt) on North
Jefferson street, was that of Miss Lois
Nesbitt to Mr. Erling Grovenstein.
The ceremony was performed in the
living room, which was beautifully
decorated with silver vases filled with
fragrant paper-white narcissi, and
chrysanthemums. Graceful festoons
of Southern smilax gave an added
touch-of beauty to the room.
The bride, beautiful in a traveling
suit of midnight blue tricotine, with
blouse of henna shade, and smart hat
of blue trimmed in a feather of corres
ponding coior, entered on the arm of
the groom. Her corsage was of sweet-
peas and bride’s roses. The pretty
ceremony "with the ring was performed
by Dr. L. G. Henderson, pastor of the
Presbyterian church, in the presence
of relatives and a few close friends,
and immediately afterwards Mr. and
Mrs. Grovenstein left Tor a honeymoon
trip by automobile to points, in Florida.
Upon their return they will have rooms
with Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Nix, on North
Jefferson street.
Mrs. Grovenstein is the youngest
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Nes
bitt, and one of the city’s most lovable
and beautiful young women. She is
a graduate of the State Normal School
at Athens. Mr. Grovenstein came from
Effingham county, where his forefath
