ORDINANCE SUBMITTING THE CHOICE OF
HOMESTEAD TO THE PEOPLE.
The following is the ordinance passed by
the convention for the submission ot the
homestead question to the people :
Be it ordained by the people of Georgia in
Convention assembled, and it is hereby or
dained by authority of the same, (1) That
the article adopted by this convention on the
subject of homestead and exemptions shall
not form a part of this Constitution, except
as hereinafter provided.
(2). At the election held for the ratifica
tion or rejection of this Constitution, it shall
be lawful for each voter to have written or
printed on his ballot tue words “Homestead
ol 1877,” or the words “Homestead of 1868.’’
(8). In the event that a majority ot the
ballots so cast have endorsed upon them the
words, “Homestead of 1877,” then said ai
ticle, adopted by this Convention, shall form
a part of the constitution submitted, if the
same is ratified; but in the event that said
Constitution, so submitted, shall not be rati
fled, then the article on homeste .and and ex
emptions so adopted as aforesaid by this con
vention, shall supersede article seventh of
the Constitution of 1808 on the subject of
homestead and exemptions, aud form a part
ot that Constitution.
(4). If a majority of the ballots so cast,
as aforesaid; shall have endorsed upon them
the words, “Homestead of 18G8,” then arti
cle seventh of the Constitution of 1868 shall
sujiersede the article on homestead and ex
eruptions adopted by this Convention, and
shall be incorporated in and form a part of
the Constitution so submitted and ratified.
ORDINANCE SUBMITTING TIIE QUESTION.OF
REMONAL OF THE CAPITAL TO THE
PEOPLE.
Be it ordained by the People of Georgia in
Convention assembled: (1). That the ques
tion ofthe location of thecapita 1 . of this State
be kept out of the Constitution to be adopt
ed by the convention.
(2). That at the first general election here
after held for members of the General As
sembly every voter may endorse on his bal
lot “Atlanta” or ••Mil'edgeville,” and the
one of these places receiving the largest
number ot votes shall be the capital of the
State uutif changed by the same authority
and in the same way that may be provided
for the alteration ol the Constitution that
may be adopted by the convention—wheth
er said Constitution be ratified or rejected;
and every person entitled to vote for mem
bers of the General Assembly under the
present Constitution aud laws of the State
shall be entitled to vote under this ordinance.
In ihe event of the rejection of said Consti
tution, should a majority of the votes east be
in favor of Milledgeville, then this provision
to operate and take effect as an amendment
to the present Constitution.
To Keep Fresh Meat.—As soon as the
animal heat is out of the meat slice it up
ready for cooking, prepare a large jar by
scalding well with hot water and salt. Mix
salt and pulverized saltpeter in proportion
of one tablespoonful of salterpetei to oue
teacupful ot sale. Cover the bottom of the
jar w r ith a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Put
down a layer ot meat, sprinkle wijli salt and
pepper the same as if just going to the table,
and continue in this maimer until the jar is
full Fold a cloth or towel and wet it in
strong salt and water iu which in a little of
the saltpeter is dissolved. Press the cloth
closely over the meat and set in a cool place,
lie sure and press the cloth on tightly as
each layer is removed, and your meat will
keep for months. It is a good plan to let
tho meat lie over night after it is sliced be
fore packing. Then drain off all the blood
that oozes from it. It will be necessary to
change the cloth occasionally, or take it off
and wash it—first in cold water then scald
iu salt and water as at first,. Iu this way,
larmers can have fresh meat all the year
round.
A Sure Cure for Boils.—Dr. Simon, a
physician of Loraine states that, ns soon as
the the characteristic culminating point ot a
Imul makes its appearance, he puts iu a sauc
er a thimbleful of clmmphorated alcohol,
aud dipping the ends of his middle fingers
into the liquid, rubs the inflamed surface,
especially the mikdle portion, repeating the
opertion eight or ten times, continuing the
rubbing at each time for about half a min
ute, He then allows the surface to dry*
placing a slight coating of camphorated ol
ive oil over the affected surface. lie states
that one such application in almost all such
cases causes boils to dry up and disappear.
The application should be made at morning,
noon and in the evening. He aveis that
the same treatment will cure whitlows and
sll injuries ol tips of fingers. As soon as
pain and redness appear, the finger should
be soaked for ten minutes in camphorated
sweet oil. This relief is said to be immedi
ate, and three applications are generally
enough to effect a cure.
AVe speak knowingly when we assert that
Hall’s Vegetable Sicilian Hair Renewcr is
the best article ot the kind sold on the Amer
en n Continent. Personal trial has demon
strated this, and the article is an elegant and
cleanly one, without which wethinh notoil
et complete. Messrs. Johnston, Holloway
Cos.. 603 A-ch street, Philadelphia, are
the agents for the article, and when our
Philadelphia triends return from Cape Ma.C,
the should certainly procure some of it. We
know of no such article evtant for the hair*
and thus speak in such decided and emphat
ic terms.— Ocean Foam, Cape May, N. J,
The dispatches ot the Bth instant bring in
telligence that the strikers in Pennsylvania
are yet in an unsettled stale and likely to
burst forth at any time. Five thousand
members ol secret orders have beau drilling,
ami a general uprising is threatened if the
military make threatened arrests There Is
certainly ft great, deal of unpleasant comfort
among capitalists and property holders in
that stat a.
T.ik eomaort of its possession t* very fre
quently offset by the annoyance occasional
by the continual crying qf the Pa by. Cry

Milledgeville never can be.
