A Very Singular Colncidei.ce.
One of the most singular coinci
dences which lias ever c< mo lo our
knowledge, hasjust taken place in
tills county. About ten years ago a
Mrs. Carey died trom the effects of
measles in this place. This insidious
disease affected her in such a wav as
to cause an ansuristn of the left
femoral artery, From a clot of blood
in tlife main artery of the left leg
mortification set in and caused the
lady’s death. Yesterday out at Mr.
Joseph Sheppard’s in this county,
Di's. H. F. Andrews and Dr John
Hill amputated the left log ot Mrs.
Hendricks, a lady about sixty year*
of ago. She lias jmt had nn attack
ot measles which caused the largo
artery in the left leg to be affoc ed
exactly as was that in the above case.
Wliat makes this coincidence so very
singular is that these two ladies were
twin sisters. We do io' suppose
that in all tlie* medical records there
is a similar care recorded. Whether
or not these two ladies, being twin
sisters, were so constituted as to have
the same weakness at the same point
in their physical slriiolure, is a matter
fin surmise ; hut the (act remains that
tag same disease which ufieeted the
one so very peculiarly, affected the
other in precisely tho same wav. It
is hoped however lint the case of
Mrs. Hendricks will not result fatally
as did that of her sister. Since I tor
leg was amputated she has In on do
ing as well as possible under the cl:-
cu instances.
You could want no better place lo
