An ordinance to provide for the
paving of Central Avenue from
the alley lying parallel between
Thomas and Sheridan Streets,
West, to and across Johnston
Street; Johnston Street, North to
the tracks of the Atlanta, Biiming
ham and Atlantic Railroad Com
pany; Pine Stieet from the point
where the paving of said street
terminates at Sherman street,
East to and accross Sheridan street;
Main Street, from the point where
Pine Street intersects on the
South, North to Central Avenue;
that portion of Sherman lying be
tween Central Avenue and Pine
Street and that portion of Sheridan
Street lying between Central
Avenue and Pine Street in the
city of Fitzgerald, to authorize
the Mayor and Street Committee
of said city to contract for said
work to be done and to provide
for the assessment of property
adjacent to these streets of two
thirds, (%) of the cost thereof, and
for other purposes.
Sec. 1, Be it ordained by the
mayor and council of the City of
Fitzgerald that that portion of
Central Avenue from the alley
lying parallel between Thomas and
Sheridan Streets: Johnston Street
North, to the tracks of the At
lanta, Birmingham and Atlantic
Railroad Company; Pine Street
from the point where the paving
of said street terminates at Sher
man Street, Kast to and across
Sheridan Street; Main Street from
the point where Pine Street in
tersects it on the South, North to
Central Avenue; that portion of
Sherman Street lving between
Central Avenue and Pine Street
and that portion of Sheridan street
Jying between Central Avenue and
Pine Street, shall be paved and
such material shall be used ir the
paving thereof as shall be deter
mined by the Mayor and Street
Committee of said city.
Sec. 2. Be it further ordained
by the authorities aforsaid that
the said mayor and the said com
mittee shall make a contract for
said paving which is most advant
ageous to the city, said paving to
cost the sum of $2.20 per sq. yd.
Sec. 3. Be it further ordaiued
by the autbority aforsaid that the
cost of said paving shall be borne
as follows: There shall be paid out
of any fund available in the City
Treasury at such time as may
seem best to the city, ic accordazce
with the contract made for said
paving, one-third, () of the total
cost of said paving and there shall
be paid by the owners of proper
tv adjoining the said streets, two
thirds, (%) of the cost of such pav
ing, said two-thirds, (%) of such
cost to be proportioned equally
between property owners on each
side of the streets paved which is
to say, that the person owning
property with a frontage of one
hundred (100) feet on the side of
one of such streets, shall pay one
third, (3) of the total cost of pav
ing said street from the middle of
the same up to his property and
for a lateral distaace of one hun-
dred (100) feet up and down said
street, so that the total cost of
paving said streets shall be borne,
one-third, (1) by the city of Fitz
gerald and two-thirds, (3) by the
adjacent property owners, to be
equally divided between them in
proportion to the number of front
feet of real estate owned by them
except in-so-far as lelates to those
portions of said streets which cross
the alleys of the city ard the total
cost of paving the portions of the
sald streets which cross alleys,shall
be borne by the city of Fitzgerald,
the cost in no event and to no pro
verty owper, nor to the city to
exceed the sum of $2,20 per sq.
yd. j
Sec, 4. Be it further ordained
that the Mayor and street Com
mittee of said city council shall
cause said work of paving to be
gin and be proceeded with at as
early a date as is practicable and
the said work of paving shall be
done under their supervision and
in a manner satisfactory and pc
ceptahle to them.,
Sec. 5. Be it further ordained
that as this ordinance is fuly
passed, it shall be published orce
a week for two weeks in the offi
cial organ of said city and thatno
other notice than the publication
of this ordinance shall be neces
sary in order to make the same
effective for the purpose for which
it is intended. |
Sec, 6. Be it further ordaited
that al! the provisions of Sec, 68
of an Act of the General Ass¢m
bly of Georgia, entitled ‘“An Act}
to amend an Act incorporatng
the city of Fitzgerald, in rbe
county of Ben Hill, appro;’edi
Aug. 22, 1907 and for other par
poses,” be adopted as part of the
provision of this ordinance lnd‘
that said work be done in accerd

COUNTY.
The following bills are proposed
for introduction:
There will be many who are in
favor of these bills and many who
are opposed to same; and while I,
as your representative, intend to
be fair and impartial with all either
for or against, much will depend
on their introduction from petitions
signed or of public sentiment as
may be determined.
Personally, I have my own views
made up, but when acting in the
capacity of a public servant I de
sire the sentiment of the people of
my county or particularly the ref
erendum, and such will be my po
sition with matters not made pub
lic in my former platform.

respective terms of office; to pro

the Water, Light and Bord Com
mission, of the City of Fitzger
ald, Ga., will,on the Ist. day of
July 1912, sell to the highest bid
der the issue of Forty Thousand
Dollars ($40,000.00) “Paving
Bonds.’’
Said bonds to be issued in
denominations of One Thousand
Dollars ($1,000.00) each, to bear
interest at the rate of five (5) per
cent per annum, interest payable
semi-annually on the first days
of January and July. The prin
cipal of said bonds is to become
due and be fully paid thirty (30)
years from date of their issue;
the principal and interest on said
bonds payable in New York in
Gold Coin of the United States of
the present weight and fineness
all of said bonds, both principal
and interest to become due and
fully paid within thirty (30) years
from date of their issue.
Sealed bids will be received up
to the Ist. day of July 1912, at
4p. m. in said City. A certified
check for One Thousand Dollars
