From Delaware County.— The latest news
we have from the insurrectionary county is con
tained in the following letter from the corres
pondent ol the Albany Evening Journal:
Delhi, Sept. 2d, 1845.
The party which lelton Sunday for Bovina in
search of the “barn burners,” has not returned;
but we learn that they have not succeeded in
ferretting out any of those engaged in this last
outrage.
Our soldiers are engaged to-day in cutting and
drawing logs, for two log jails, which are to be
erected for the accommodation ol those prison
ers now under guard who cannot be entertained
in the jailproper. The jury is still in session,
and on every hand is manifested a promptness
and energy in the discharge of duty which con
firm me in the belief that the law will be tri
umphantly vindicated.
Some six or eight warrants for the collection
of rent have been served, an.) I understand fiom
the posse which accompanied the civil officers
that the rent will be paid without doubt belore
the sale. These are to be followed by others as
fast as they can be attended to.
Words cannot express the indignation our
citizens manifested on hearing of the wretched
compromise made by the authorities of Scho
harie with the Indians. The Sheriff of that
county ought to be removed from office at once.
M.
A Delhi letter of the same date, in the Argus,
says;
The examinations before the justice are con
tinued almost daily, and commitments are made,
some for murder, some under the disguisp act of
Jan. ’45, and others for conspiracy and riot. So
much of it is done, and so much depravity dis
closed, that the heart sickens at the details.
The investigation before the coroner is still
progressing. When it will close it is impossi
ble to say—certainly not as long as its disclo
sures, important in satisfying the demands of
justice, are being made. The infamy and pol
lution which has be-m brought to light is enough
to sink us in the estimation of a moral public,
but there is every reason to believe that the
deepest sores yet remain to be probed. The
power upon the throne has been subdued, that
behind it still remains.
Those persons who are now confined here,
many to answer the charge of murder, are mostly
young. They have been led on, or rather urged,
by older heads. Some of them may have to an
swer for this with their lives, while those who
are, in the sight of Heaven, more guilty, wii.
escape: human laws cannot reach them, S.
From the Journal of Commerce.
Affairs of the River Plate.
Buenos Ayres, July 5, 1845.
The English and French ministers have sig
nified to the Argentine Government that there
will be landed from the Squadrons of their re
spective countries off Montevideo, English and
French troops, who will oblige Gen. (tribe to
retire from before the city, and the Argentines
will not withdraw their forces. The two Min
isters have also positively declined allowing the
blockade of the pox~t of Montevideo by the Ar
gentine squadron. The Argentine Government
ha ve requested the mediation of the Charged’
Affairs of the United Sta es, Mr. Wm. Brent.
Jr., who accepted it, but the English and French
Ministers declined it on the ground of his not
being of equal rank; and there seems to ho but
little doubt of their receiving their passports
immediately.
The Argentine Government will not allow
European nations to regulate their political af
fairs, and if driven to the necessity, they de
clare that they will issue privateers’ commis
sinns against English and French commerce,
whose present avowed intentions is to take pos
session of the island of Martin Garcia and
blockade the port of Buenos Avros. which will
produce retaliation from the Argentine Govern
ment.

Extensive Frauds.—William Bartlett, Hen
ry ('oilerand John Porter, were arrested yester
day for conspiring to defraud Messrs. Johnson,
White & Jones, of 80 Pearl-st., and Warren,
Beman & Co , of property to the amount of se
veral thousand dollars. Sutton, Bartlett &
Moore were established at No. 14 Wall-st as
Brokers, and promising to discount paper
received from merchants by them recommended
to confidence as trustworthy, they succeeded in
effecting sales at the hands of the above firms
to Colter, Porter, and another person not yet
arrested, who got $12,000 worth of boots and
shoes. The details, which we suppress at pre
sent lest their publication may defeat the ends of
justice, reveal a mostastonishingsericsoffrauds
perpetrated for a year past.
P. 8. Mr. Porter called upon us last evening
and stated that he had been discharged by the
magistrate, as nothing appeared against him.—

These Pills arc composed 01 vegetables of the
most innocent, yet specific virtues, and are admi
rably adapter! to the curt of ail bilious complaints
They are highly uselul at all seasons of the
year, and more particularly during the spring
ami summer mouths, when persons of bilious
habits experience a total loss of a: petite, disa
greeable list ess-m ss. and genera! derangement 01
the system. Ihey are the best cathartic and a
perieatmedicine ever introduced to the public;
they are highly useful as a preventive against the
levers which prevail in the -South during the sick
ly season ; they strengthen the stomach, procure
a good appetite, promote digestion, purify the
blood, and restore the invalid to his original
strength am! vigor. Persons laboring under the
infirmities el old age will find this medicine to
prove wholesome, agreeable, and invigorating, as
sisting digestion m a remarkable degree, rernov
ing those low spirited and trembling sensations,
the sure eflect of want of tone in the system*
They are peculiarly adapted to those who are
troubled with habitual costiveness, and on ac
count of their restorative qualities are particular
ly recommended to those who are suffering from
chronic and lingering complaint?. As a general
family medicine they are not s rpassed by any
other preparation, and 110 medi-me chest should
be without them. Hundreds, we may say thou

Pills. The medical faculty warnny ape rove 0,
this medicine, and recommend it in preference t
allother; and ‘hey certainly are most compeleno
to judge ol its merits. Persons wishing to purt

not mind what interested venders may tell you
about-others being as good, as there are thou
s mds of preparations son-ed into market almost

by some o; the leading lights of the profession 111
their ex tensive practice, and is now prepared with
great core, and upon chemical and scientific prin
ciples, for gotten;! use, by the present proprietors
only. The imputation of quackery, therelore,
cannot be affixed 10 this medicine, since it is the
production of regular, scientific, practicing phy

will ever be held in the highest estimation*
