CONGRESS,
Wo have aimost forgotten that this Body is in
session. We shall hear from it to-day. It is a pity
that somo of their mispent time could not bo
merged in oblivion.
THE WEATHER.
Since our la»t wo have been inhaling the btcrtt
of Spring. Saturday was a warm day, but yestet-.
day was warmer. There was no comfort unless
the zephyr of tho South wns permitted to find away
through our casements. This is tube, like it*
predecessors, a year of fickle weather, nnd if we are
to judge by that of New Year's day, more fickle.
On that day the morning Sun wus obscured by
clouds, which threatened heavy showers, hut a
South-Wester rttovo, nt noon, those clouds nwny,
nnd the Sun shone iu Ids brilliancy up.on our hopes,
enhanced ns they were by tho dawn of another yeur.
»Tis thus with human life, in somo degree. Infancy
has it* clouds and its shadows, for reason hos not
yet assumed Us station to instruct tho natural mlrnl
how to dissipate them. Boyhood arrives and its
cupslcss gaiety, like the South West wind disperse*
nil shades, and frolics in tho sun-light, while the
noon of manhood is rendered »till brighter by the
light which reason end experience concentrate.
But to return from ourdigrossion. The wentheh
of yesterday, If It continues, will surely bring tho
odours, as well as the breath of Spring, and We will
not be surprised soon to seo a bod of roses, (would
that wo could recline Upon it,) and rite fragrant
jessamine peeping from its winter residence, to have
its beauties chilled, perhaps withered by an untimo-
ly frost. Wo liopo not, however, for wo are fur
every season having its heyday of pleasure, %M!e
it does not burrow too many sweets from other
month*.

They intimated their design to the steward, who

subject o( active corrusjinndanra between the two

has not given any opinion on tho particular net of

Tho subject wus brought boforo thu Houso this

Utter is very indignant that tho Statu of Now York
should linvo hud the temerity to imprison a felon,

this very calmly, by stating that Mr. Fox must be-

Aftor several war speeches were mado by Messrs.

and Underwood, of Ky., the papers wero referred to

Pickens is Chairman.
There is u new treaty now in course of ratification
between till* Government nnd Great Briliiiu, rela
