FARMER’S TAKE NOTICE,
rpIlIS NEWLY PATENTED PLOUGH, is thein-
A volition of J. ARAMS of Putnam County, Uu.
The SUPERIOR QUALITIES of this Impliment
are generally shown as follows, viz:
1st. It is a Scooter Stock, but so arranged that with
ease and rapidity, either a Scooter, Shovel, Bulltongue,
Sweep, Subsoil or Turn-Plough may be adapted to the
Stock.
2d. Owing to the strength and lightness of the Stock,
(it weighing only 16 lbs.,) a larger Plough-hoe may he
attached than is generally used if desired, particularly
on fight or sandy’ soil.
3d. It cleans itself constantly, and does not choke,
and will “take” in hard or stiff land, running deep.
4th. The ease and rapidity with which the different
Plough-Hoes are nut on or removed, together with the
firm and steady manner in which they are held on by
the Clamp and Heel Screw are of decided advantages.
We have used ADAM’S PLOUGH, and find that it
has all the advantages ahoA’e mentioned:
W. H. Mitchell, G. T, Myrick, O. I’. Bonner,
J. T. Bivins, Jno. R. Moore, Hawkins & Myrick.
Certificates >>f its advantages, aboA’e named, could

This document will be found in our issue of to
day; and we might leave it where its merits placed
it, without comment. But it is a pleasant duty to
speak of it as a plain, out spoken talk to the people,
on a subject of great importance to their welfare
and the interest of the commonwealth. There is
not a recommendation in the Message we do not
•pprove. The leading questions discussed, are
treated with candor, and so clearly elucidated, as
to he perfectly comprehended by the humblest in-
tolled in the State. The Bank question, and tho
Western & Atlantic Railroad. Wading subjects,
as well as the question of Common Schools are
dealt with as only a man of truth and honesty
would treat them. Whatever maybe thought of
the practicability of some ot Gov. Brown’s sug.
gestions. touching these great questions, no man,
who has read (he Message calmly and with impar
tiality, hut will admit tiiat the language of the
Message is that of sincerity, and an honest desiro
to subserve the Public interests. Gov. Brown has
not sought display, or turned liis periods to capti-
vate the admirers of rhetoric. He deals in facts;
and his object is accomplished when the people
shall decide, that what lie lias spoken is the truth,
and what he advises is theexpression of an honest
desire to enhance the interests and promote the
prosperity of our beloved State.

necessary resistance be made? There is only one
way. The Democratic Party must be permanently
dislodged from the government. The reason is,
that the democratic party is inextricably commit
ted to the designs of the slaveholders, which I
have described.
The very constitution of the Democratic party
commits it to execute all tho designs of the slave
holders, whatever they maybe. It is not a party
of the whole Union, of all the free States and all of
the slave States; nor yet is it a party of the free
States in the North and iu the Northwest, but it is a
sectional and local party, having, practically, its
seat within the slave States, and counting its con-
sistituency chiefly and almost exclusively there.'’
After charging upon the Democratic party all
the evils which he says are incident to slavery, he
says tiiat every Democrat that has ever refused to
obey the behests of slavery, has always, aud from
no oile r reason, been immediately ejected from the
party. Mr. Seward then came to the conclusion
that in order effectually to abolish slavery, it is ab
solutely necessary to drive the Democratic party
front power. What say you, gentlemen of the
Soutlt ? Will you join Mr. Seward in demolishing
(he Democracy, that by that means you nray de
stroy slavery in the States > It is precisely to that
entertainment tiiat you are invited. Here is his
closing exhortation:
“ I think, fallow citizens, that I have shown yon
that it is high time for the friends of freedom
to rush to the rescue of the constitution, and that
their first duty is to dismiss the Democratic party
from the administration of tiie government.”

This body re-assembled in the Senate Chamber
on yesterday at 104, A. M. After reading the
minutes of previous meeting, and a bill reported
from Committee on tiie subject of Education, the
Senatus Academicus adjourned until tho 26th inst,
for the puipose of receiving the reports of Senators.
This action was brought about, on the ground,
tiiat few of the Senators, at present, were prepar
ed to render in their Reports. It was thought
that several addresses would be made. We were
disappointed in not hearing from Ex-Gov. John
son, Hon. B. H. Hill,and T. R. R. Cobb, Esq.

MARKETS.
Savannah Friday Nov. 5th, 4P. M.
COTTON.—Tho bad weather which prevailed
yesterday kept most of the buyers within doors,
and the sales were limited to 183 bales. The
advices per America have so unsettled the market,
tiiat for the present, we must forbear quotations.
The following are the particulars ot the day's
sales: 2 at 16}, and 178 bales at life.
The Legislature.
Ail appearances seem to indicate that the pres
ent session of the General Assembly will be dis
tingnisheil for its industry. It is true there are
a great many members in both Houses who will
he unable to get on without a daily discharge of
gas—but the present is an intelligent Legislature
—and much important matter must of necessity
engage its attention—therefore we believe that the
majority in both houses will determine to work
and not talk. The people expect much of the
present General Assembly, and we are induced to
believe that they will not be disappointed.

The Jltmion to Chinn.
Wo are gratified to learn that the Mission to Chi
na has been tendered to, and accepted by, Hon.
Joint E Ward, of Georgia. That a Southern man,
from a cotton State, should have received this ap
pointment, just at this juncture in the commercial
history of China is indeed most fortunate; but the
fact that a Georgian, and one so well qualified and
deservedly esteemed as Mr. Ward, should fill the
post of Minister to China, is, to his friends, a source
of unmingled pride and pleasure By this appoint
ment the State and the Democratic party are hon

the prevailing sentiment of his party. In this
speech Mr. Seward boldly and emphatically as
serts, that it is impossible for the States that re
cognise slavery to live under the same govern
ment with those that have abolished that institu
tion, and that sooner or later the whole United
States must either become a slave-holding nation,
or a free labor nation. He then goes on to state
the false and absurd idea, that the slave-holders
in the South hope and expect to extend slavery
throughout the whole Union. The following ex

considers the evil, and what he proposes as the
remedy.
