Death by Morphine.
Dr. George K. Holloway of this plnee killed
liimrelf last Saturday, under tlio following
clreumstanuss. Ho was about town (lining
tlio early part of lire iluy, but complained of
feeling unwell. About two o'clock bo went to
bed, sent for Mr. Sherman, n Druggist, and
directed him to put up the following prescrip
tion—30 grnins sulphate of Morphine, 21
grains caibonato Magnesia, 1 os. Paregoric,
1 on. Peppermint water, 2 os. Water. Mr.
Sherman, tearing there was somo mistake,
asked him particularly about tho quantity,'
ami told him It would kill him. Dr. H. an
swered that ho was In tho habit of taking It,
and desired it put up In that form, that ho
might tako it in imiall doses to suit himself.
Mr. S. conversed with Dr. II. somo tlmoand
felt of Ids pulse and head. He seemed to be
entirely ratlonnl.and nearly or qulto free from
fever. Tho proscription was put up, nud tho
Ingredients written on n label and pasted oh
Uiu bottle to avoid all mlstako.
A negv6 hoy, who was waiting on Dr. Hol
loway took tiro mcdlclno to him. Ho drank
tho wholo about 8 o’clock. At supper time
tho boy found It Impossible to nwako him nnd
gavo tho alarm. Evory effort was made to
ssvo him, hut without; bucccss. ilo died In
tho early part of tho night. Tho body was
burled on tlio following day by tho Masonic
Fraternity, of wblcb be was a member. Tho
general opinion seems to he that Dr. Hollo

Ho was a native of Virginia, but had resi
ded many years in Georgia. Ho was proba
