Garnochan ami Peter Mitchell of this cl-
,y hive by sundry deeds recently mortgaged
and assigned to divers persons either their Indi
vidual creditors, creditors of tho late firm of
Carnpclum Mitchell, or others, all orsundrv
the property and estate, both real and personal,
of the said firm, as well as their own Individual
property and estate, consisting together of
houses, lots, lands, stores, wharves, negroes, &c.
in Savannah and Darien In Georgia, or the
neighborhood thereof, and elsewhere with their
interest or share in the stock of tho lower
•team mill near Darien, and sundry slisres in
the United States Hank and other hanks, as well
ns sundry dehtsdue to them til various places,
besides lands, lots, negroes, Sic. in the territory
Of Florida, ami particularly one large tract of
land bought of Forbes « Co. lj iog between
the river# St. Murks and Apalachicola in the
territory of Florida aforesaid.
Thesearc hereby to caution the public against
purchasing any part of the said property or es-
tate so conveyed, or any other property belong
ing to the said Uarnochnn if Mitchell, or either
of them, as I hold prior mortgages on the great,
esr part thereof, which are on record in the re
gistry in Savannah and Darien aforesaid and in

The deeds under which Mr Christie claims
an exclusive right to all the real and personal

as informal, unjust and illegal. Hence they
have been brought and are still before the court,
and other deeds have been executed and re

Compiled by the appointment, and under the au-
tho'.ity qf the General Assembly,

There arc few so ignorant as not to know thftt
work like this, if even tolerably executed,
must possess intrinsic value. The compilation
of this book is allowed by competent judges, to
be performed in a very masterly manners and
the Well known character of,the gentleifiun
whose name it bears, forbids the idea of any
deficiency of industry or talent in executing
the important service confided to him by the
Legislature.
It is believed tnat every man who can conve
niently buy this werk ought to possess it, be
cause it behoves every citizen to have ‘some
knowledge of the laws of liis country. The
opinion expressed by Judge Hlackslone is cer
tainly correct that, “As every one is interest
ed in the presirvution of Inc Lawsuit is in
cumbent upon every man to lie acquainted with
those at least with which lie is immediately
concerned ; lest he incur the censure, as well
as inconvenience, of living in Society, without
knowing the obligations which it lays him un
del.'*
