No Poison in Chamberlain’s Cough
Remedy.
From Napier, New Zealand, Her
ald: Two years ago the Pharmacy
Board of New South Wales, Australia
had an analysis made of all the cough
medicines that wore sold in that mar-
Out of the entire list they found
only one that they declared was en
tirely free from all poisons. This ex
ception was Chamberlain’s Cough
Remedy, made by the Chamberlain
. Hdicine Company, Des Moines, Iowa,
U. S. A. The absence of all narcotics
makes this remedy the safe i and
est that can be had; and P. is with
u feeling of security that uny mother
can give it to her little ones. Cham
berlain’s Cough Remedy is especially
recommended by Its makers for
coughs, colds, croup and whooping
cough. When taken in time It pre
vents pneumonia. This remedy Is for
sale by W. D. Dunaway, Valdosta,

A Common sense Ruling.
The President has a way of doing
things that must be calculated to well
nigh take away the breath of the red-
tape stickler at Washington. Recent
ly he authorized an amendment to
the civil service rules providing that
licreafter a cabinet officer shall have
power summarily to remove, without
a hearing any civil service employe
in his department who has been guilty
of misconduct or who Is Inefficient
In the performance of his duties. Here
tofore unworthy employes have been
known to take advantage of their civ
il service status to hold their jobs,
and have defied their superiors. This
ruling of the president will put a slop
to that sort of thing. Possibly the
president may have strained his au
thority a little but his action la based
on common sense anyway.
of trucks attached to it broke loose
and fell fifty feet to the river below.
Being on the engine was all that saved
them.
A negro named Charles Blount, at
Adel, robbed a trunk belonging to
Louis Miller of $49. He was later ar-
rested at Sparks and $38 of the money
was recovered.
School rallies are to be hold at every
militia between now and the first
of December to discuss the matter of
levying a small school tax for improv
ing the schools of the county.

homes In that place.
Contractor R. A. Whitehurst,
Nashville, shipped a car load of sweet
potatoes Inst week, and It Is said that
he has plenty more for shipment If
the returns ar© satisfactory.
Waycross will be in the throes of a

Is that a largo crowd will* attend, es

"Although 1 have never been laid up
by kidi.oy complaint, I have suffered
a great deal with a lame and aching
hack, and have felt like going to bed
on that account often enough. This
dull, heavy pain was with mo for sev

dark and sluggish and contained a
thick sediment. I tried all kinds of
remedies and used prescriptions of my
own, but without success. Nothing
seemed to take hold, until I procurod
