Negro Arrested in Time to Pre
vent His Marriage to White Girl
Louisville, Ky„ July 24—Henry Clayton, the negro who was
arrested yesterday at Chicago when about to marry a white
girl with whom he eloped from Irvington, Ky., was placed in
jail here today for safekeeping, the police having learned that
a mob was forming at Irvington to lynch him.

Boykin Bill Passed by House.
Atlanta, Ga., July 24—By a vote of 132 to 15 the House this
afternoon passed the Boykin substitute bill known as the “Buck
et Shop bill.’’ It provides that all bucket shops and exchanges
speculating: in marginal futures shall be illegal and go out of
business by January 1st, 1907.
Charter for New Railroad.
Atlanta, Ga., July 24—A charter was granted today by the
Secretary of State to the Georgia, Southwestern and Gulf rail
road, which is to run from Dawson and Albany to the Gulf, and
is capitalized at $300,000. The principal offices are to be in
Albany.
