To Provide a Court of Appeals.
Indications now point to the early
passage ‘ of a bill by the legislature
creating a court of appeals which will
relieve the congestion of business In
the atate supreme court end take a
great and growing burden from the
shoulders of the present and future
Justices. This court will bo one low
er than the supreme court and a step
higher than the superior court. The
measure, which has been Introduced
In the house provides for five mem
bers, one presiding officer and foul
associates. The supreme court con-
sits of a chief Justice and five asso
ciate Justices. Great pressure Is
being brought to hear on members
of the house to have the bill passe^
and It appears to be practically.cep
tain of approval. The senate-Is.Anfrt
to pass the measure If It Is ever eeat
to It from the house. It Is certain
that the number of resignation! from
the supremo court bench In recent
yeare Is due to the tremendous
amount of work which the Justices
are called upon to perform. At ttte
meeting last week of the Georgia
Bar association the need of a court
of appeal* wai made apparent in
■peeches of the members and It Is a
well known fact that every lawyer In
Georgia Is la favor of the creation of
snch a tribunal.
