Working on th6 Streets.
(From Wednesday’s Dally.)
The street hands are now at work
on Patterson street and the outlook
Is that they will be busily engaged
on different streets for some time to
come. The road machine is being
used in shaping up the streets and it
is said that all of them are to be
worked as soon as they can be reach
ed. The recent heavy rains have
caused many of the streets to become
badly washed, and the work that is
being done is greatly needed.
As soon as the town rests a little
from the street paving and other ex
penses, the work of paving the resi
dence streets should be systemat
ically begun.

Killed Two Big Rattlers.
(From - Wednesday's Dally.)
Two Brooks county rattlesnakes,
measuring about seven feet each, and
hanging from the limb of a sappllng,
may be responsible for the continued
rains in this section. Whether they
are or not, the (act remains that th.
snakes were hung upon the limb and
the rain continues to fall.
Over on the Golden place, on the
Morven road, nine miles from Valdos
ta, a negro was working in the field
yesterday morning. He ran upon
n rattle snake, colled up In a knot
about the size of a half bushel meas
ure. The negro started to get a
stick with which to kill it when he
found another rattler, about the same
size, crawling off. The negro then
called Mr. Jim Golden and he came to
the scene and shot both of the reptiles.
Not knowing that snakes hung upon
limbs will cause rain to tall, both rep
tiles were suspended from a sapling
so thnt nil who desired to iee them
might do so.
