Tomorrow is the day fixed for 'the
execution in tho State prison here of
Thomas Wayne, the negro murderer
whose trial and conviction at Fay
etteville last fall attracted consider
able attention. Wayne's crime was
murder of Mrs. John AiHff at Quin-
nimont last August. The assailant
after beating her husband Into un
consciousness murdered the woman.
After the negro wu captured by the
authorities he was hurried from
town to town to escape lynching. He
was finally landed in the Charleston
Jail after a four days’ trip acrosa the
mountains. Four companies of mili
tia were-called out at the time to
preserve order.

New York, Dec. 22.—Lack of de

pear before Judge L. 8. Roan, of the
superior court, on the second Mon
