Savannah Folks Interested
in Visit of Guckenheimer to
Mayor Teideman.
Savannah, Ga., Dec. 15—The most
talked of political incident in con
nection with the municipal race now
on In Savannah was the meeetms

Mayor Tiedman, Alderman Abe 6.
Guckenheimer and Mr. M. A.
O’Byrne. The alderman, who is op
posing Mr. Tiedman’s candidacy foi
reelection went into his oilice to
talk to him about the pending bud
get for 1911 paving.
This being concluded the mayor
brought up the question of politics
and the supp'ort of Mr. Guckenhei
mer. The latter is considerably
worked up over the fact that Mr.
Tiedman promised him two years
ago—according to Mr. Guckenhei
mer and Ills friends—that if he would
not run for mayor then hir. Tied
man would not oppose him^lg year.
Mr. Tiedman told his vlsitoro ye*
terday that he dldHot recall making
such a promise.
The alderman recalled a few dates
and places and circumstances under
which the promise had been made.

having thrown him down two years
ago when a fight was made upon
him for Chairman of council, Alder
man Guckenheimer says the mayor

Mr. Guckenheimer also referred
to the fact that Mr. Tiedman ns
mayor had opposed the election of
Mr. Jos. M. Dreyer, the aldermans
personal friend as a member of the
Board of *Tax Receivers for the city.
The mayor said this was done as
a case of political expediency and
that he*hnd always been opposed to
Mr. Dreyer. The alderman finally
left the office with the declaration

Savannah, Ga., December 15.-
