Many Out of Town Shoppers.
There were scores of out-of-town
shoppers In Valdosta today, and all
of the dry goods and millinery stores
were crowded with them. The trains
this morning from all directions
brought ladies- from the adjoining
towns to do their shopping hero.
There were several from Naylor and
Mtlltown, a number from up the
Ga. and Fla. road, others from Adel,
Sparks and Hahira while the train
from Quitman, Jasper and Madison
nil brought good delegations.
The approaching of the school
closing season in mo&t of the towns
has created a new demand for hats
and dresses and it is to' supply the
demand that so many ladies are now
coming to Valdosta.

program wa s an excellent one and
every number was thoroughly
Joyed, and bespoke the careful train
ing of an efficient teacher.
The stage was beautifully deco
rated, the color scheme being pink
and green. The sides and the rear
of the stage were banked with ferns
and the three large arches of magno
lia leave* and the pyramid of fern*
capped by a large bowl of pink
oleanders were most effective.
One of the best numbers on the
program was the drill which was a
very difficult one and which was
carried out without a hitch. The
drill was led by Ora Lee Cranford
and John Davis, and Sarah Dunaway
and Marie Wilcox were interesting
and conspicuous figures and added
much to this beautiful number.
Carl Jones brought down the
house with his song, “Little Doggie’
and the “Mother Goose" numbers
were especially fine. Emma Briggs
made an ideal "Bo Peep" and Jno.
Davis, Louise Cull, Carl Jones, Caro
line Rose, Tom Smith, Frances
Dekle and Margaret Varnedoe were
all good.
The Indian songs and games wen
excellent, and the "Spring Scene”
was another good number, the
"Flowers Waking” by Maxwell Oli
ver, being one of the best.

BOOSTER GARS
IN VALDOSTA
The Barnesville Delegation
Stopped Here Last Night
and This Morning.
‘ *
(From Wednesday’s Daily.)
The Barnesville boosters reached
aldosta last night about nine o’clock
remained here until nearly din
ner today. The paf^y consisted of
Messrs. E. W. Cochran, W. Wake
field and E. M. Tyler. They have
traveled all over the northern part
the state and as far east a»
Augusta and Savannah, then to
Brunswick and Waycross, coming
from W’aycross yesterday.
The object of the trip is to stir up
interest in a convention to he held in
Barnesville for the purpose of organ
izing a State Chamber of Com
merce. They explained the proposi
tion to a committee of the Board of
Trade a^. the Valdes thie morning
and they urged that a delegation be
sent to Barnesville to attend the
meeting which is to ho held there
in July.
Their Idea is to organize a trading
body that will do for Georgia the
same work which the ordinary trad©
body does for Georgia’s resources
and to try and keep outside capital
interested in Georgia. They also
think that Georgia would be greatly
benefitted if the people of all sections
knew each other better. They be
lieve that a Board of Trade can help
In all matters that affect the welfare
of the state, from the building of
rnJilroads and factories to boosting
highways, Improving markets for
crops and making the outside world
believe that things produced in Geor
gia are "Just a little better” than
are growm anywhere else.
The Barnesville party were promin
ent citizens of that place, one oi
the men being a leading banker and
the Mayor of the town. They report
having received a warm welcome
everywhere they have beeii and they
are led to believe that there will bo
