-nwaaMThe Child would Die. 1
This is what the Sisters of the
Houie for Catholic Children, iu
Boston, said about a poor little
child who was racking itself al
most to death with whooping
sough. The child wee suddenly
taken with severs spasms and
vomiting, and with frightful pains
in the heed, The Sisters write;
M We used Perry Davis's Pain Kil
ler with the most astonishing re
sults, In a few hours the disease
urge gone ami the child was well.”
Gov. Cbas. J. Jemkimb.—Again
the people of Georgia.are called
upon to mourn the loss of a great
man, Gov. Jenkins closed a grand
noble and useful life last Thurs
day evening, at his home in Sum
merville, n *ar Augusta, Ga., sur
rounded by loved ones he* lay
down in peooe and awoee in n far
Itetter borne beyound the skies.
Sorely the illustrious old state’s
sorrow is bring put to a s< vre
test. In less than a yem Hill,
That Real Estate RumIimm of Atlanta.
It bss been asserted by cer
tain newspapers that there is a
species of fr nd practiced in these
real estate saIcs iu Atlanta of
late days, and that many of the
sales were bogus, and that the
Atlanta newspapers and real es
tate men were snooks in a con
spiracy to keep np the boom
that bears Atlanta npon its bosom
like a a rushing tide. Now, the
New Era took it upon itself to go
out on the belt road lust w?ek to
attend one of these calcs, three
miles from town. Lots were sold
at the rate of lonr hundred aud
fifty and five hundred dollars per
acre; and that sale was bonafide,
aud the transfers of papers genu
ine. But there is something rot
ten in Denmark somewhere. The
next morning after the above
mentiimd sale of snrbnrbun
property tho Willis Chisolm prop
erty located on Marietta Btreet,
abort 110x120, fronting npon
three streeta, lying well, with
neat substantial and modern
style brick residence, that alto
gether cost perhaps twelve or
fifteen thousand dollars, was
brought to sale at anotion by or
der of court, and six thousand
five hundred dollars was all that
it wot Id bring, and the capitalists
were on hand. The titles were
undispntable, the property is el
igible and enviable. Now sur-
burban property ia out of all reas
on, and a pjor mans reach, whilsi
property close in is bid off for a
song. Something is the matter
but the New Era is not going to
tell it Atlanta iB onr birth place,
and we are just the same age ex
actly, and both nf us are on a
boom, and a grand glorious and
happy future awaits us.
The horiible Defoor murder,
which occurred about four years
ago, at Deloor’s Ferry; ]’nltou I
county, about which the excite- J
ment ruu so high for a long time,
and then only cooled down a lit
tle because still wrapped iu the
Jcepest myste/y, has just been
brought to fever height again by
the discovery and confession of
ona of the murdorers at Macon,
Gu., a negro, Johnson, and also
his accomplices mentioned iu his
confession, Johnson, at Macon,
Sawyer, near the scene of the
murder, aud Brown, near Hogans-
ville, Troup county, all negroes,
and all now in Atlanta jail.
