persons of debilitated digestive organs and
emaciated constitutions, much mischief is
often done- by the ordinary lyorrn modi-
cinbs, which goneiblly consist of the strong
est purgatives, mercurials, hitters, narco
tics, or spirits of turpentine. Articles of
this kind- may.dksttoy .worms, but they de
bilitate tlia stomach, fad often-’materially
injure the goneral libajlh. Swath's Vr.n-

Worms are capable of producing great
disturbances in the system. Not only do
the'y aggravate ordinary diseases when they
are present. but they also give rise to ; a
great variety of very -alarming anomalous
affections. The whole train of spasmodic &
convulsive disenses may proceed from the
irritation Of worms in tliwaliinentary canal.
Cholera, epilepsyr'catatopsy, tetanus, pa
ralysis, mania, convulsions, as well ns, a
variety of other nervous- and convulsive
affections, are not tmfrequently tho imme
diate effectsof this cause Bosides these
diseases, worms have also been known to
produce pleuritic and rheumatic pains,dys
entery, remitting fever,dropsy of fho'hrain,
.chronic and spasmodic cough, &c. Sic.
