to be imposed on, and collected from
any freo white citizen of Savannah and
Hamlets thereof. . ..
Whereas tho General Asserdbly of the
State of Geofgia at the Iasi: Annual Meet
ing thereof enacted that the'amptlpt of the
poll tax for the said City and Hahtlets
should not exceed one dollar.-
Be it therefore Ordained, by the Mayor
and Aldermen of the City of Savannahand
Hamlets thereof, in Council Assembled,.
That the amounqpf Poll Tax foy 1829 and
annually thereafter on any ',free white in
habitant pf said city and hamlets aforesaid
shall not exceed one dollar exclusive of
costs provided returns are made as pre
scribed by Ordinance
$ 2. Be if further Ordianed by the authori
(V aforesaid. That all ordinances or parts
thereof, imposing a higher, amount of Poll
Tax be;atid the same are hereby tepealed.
