An Ordinance
T O limit tho amount of the Poll Tax
to he imposed on, and collected from
any free white citizen Of Savannah and
Hamlets thereof.
Whereas the General Assembly of the
Stalo of Goorgia at tho last Annual Alert
ing thereof enacted that the amount of the
poll tax for tho said City and Hamlets
should not exceed one dollar.
De it therefore Ordained, by the Mayor
and Aldermen of the City of Savannah anil
Hamlets thereof, in Council Assembled,
That the amount of Poll Tax for 1820 and
annually (hereafter on any Fee white in
habitant of said city and hamlets aforesaid
shall not exceed ono dollar exclusive ol
costs provided returns are made as pre
scribed hy Ordinance.
§ 2. Be it further Ordianed lytheauthon
ly aforesaid. That all ordinances or parts
thereof, imposing n higher amount of Poll
Tax he nnd the snme are hereby lepealcd-
