T O limit the amount of the Poll Tax
to lie imposed on, and collected from
any free white citizen of Savannah and
Hamlets thereof.
Whereas the General Assembly of the
State of Georgia at the last Annual Meet
ing thereof enacted that the amount of the
poll tax for the said City and Hamlets
should not exceed one dollar..
Be it therefore Ordained, ty the Mayor
and Aldermen of the City of Savannah anil
Hamkts thereof, in I 'ouncil Assembled,
That'tho amount of Poll Tax for 1829 and
annually thereafter on any freo white, in
habitant of said city.Bud hamlets aforesaid
shall not exceed one dollar exclusive of
costs provided returns are linde as pre
scribed hy Ordinance.'
§2 .Be it further Ordianed hy the authori
ty aforesaid, Thai M ordinances or parts

To alter the third, seventh and 'wclftli
sections of the flrst article, and tile
first and third sections of the third ar
tide of the Constitution of this State.
Whereas, a part nflhe third aectinn ut
the first article of the Constitution,is in the
following words, to wit: ‘‘The -enate slipll
be eleoted annually.’’ A part of Hie se
venth section of the first arte le is in the
following words—"Tha Representatives
shall be chosen annually " '.ndapurt of
the twelfth section of the first article,
is in the folio'dug words—“The meeting
of the General'Atsemby shall be aimunl-
ly."
And whbreas, a part nf tho first section
of tlie third article, is in the following
words to wilt—“Tile Judges'nf the Supe
rior courts shall be circled fur the term of
three years.” And a part of the third sec
don nf third article, is in tlte-following
woi(ls—“Tliefe shall ben Stale’s Attorney
nnd Solicitor* appointed iiy the Legisla
ture, and comm'ssinned by the Governor,
who shall Imld their offices for the term of
three years."—And whereas, tho before re
eited clauses, require amendment:
. Be it enacted by the Senate and House
of Representatives of the State of Georgia
in General, Assembly nut, and it is hefeby
enacted by the authority of thrsame, That
so soon as this act shah have passed agree
able tn ihe requisitions ufthe Constitution,
the following shall bn adopted in lieu nf the
lure- ing clause in the before recited
cited sections, to wit:
In lieu'ofthd clause in third section of
the first article, Ihe fullowjug, m wit—The
Senate shall be elected biennially.after the
year eighteen hundred and thirty-one In
lieu'of the clause in the seventh section of
.the first article, the following—^The Iteprc-
smitutivos shall be chosen biennially, alter
the year eighteen hundred and thirty one.
