This was the day after that fixed by Die-

stantinople- Tlie news of the pence, it
seems, lias not. been brought to London
by rumors from the Continent, nor is it
[iven otvlhe authority of newspapers, hut
ias reached the English cabinet in an offi
cial form The terms of the treaty hail
not yet been communicated to the British
Government, though they Were differently
reptesented in different eccounls. A Paris
paper of October 4th, on the authority of
advices from Constantinople, affirm-that

and the Dardanelles, fur merchantmen of
