CONGRESS STRING OR SARATO
GA H ATERS.
T IIF.RF. is perhaps scarcely on indi
vidual in tho United Stales, who is
not acquainted, either hy experience nr
report, with tho salutary effects of the
Congress Spring Wulers • at Saratoga.
From thirty to filtv thousand persons an
nually visit these Springs, many from the
remotest sections of the United States, and
some from tlie West Indies, nnd other for
eign places. The ereitex|iense ill visiting
tlie Springs excludes tlie ereaicr portion of
the community, (more Ilian nino out of
ten,) nnd tho iioiiled water, from its high
prico, prevonts its use to tho c'xtenf of be
ing siirvlcealdc, and confines it to n smnll
number ; it nppenrs to lie n serious evil
that so valuable an article should be so res
tricted, that comparatively few should be
able to enjoy wlint is so conducive to gen
eral health in tho hot weather nf. Our sum
mer nuimiis. From these circumstances,
Geo. W. Carpenter is pleased to announce
the preparation of tlie above powders, con
taining all the essential substances with
which I hose celebrated Springs are impreg
nated, and fioni which tlie waters of the
Congress Springs nt Saratoga me precise
ly nnd effectually imitated. With a view
to accommodate the public, nnd to bring
into general use so convenient antF valua
ble a substitute for these waters, lie Mins
boon 'induced to go very extensively into
the manufacture of them, to put them nt a
prico to ho within tho reach of most per
sons. For the acconimodoiipn of the |mh-
lic, agents will ho appointed in all tho ci
ties and principal inland iowns to give a
general circulation to so useful an article
throughout tlie country. Tlie public are
recommended to mnko trial of these pow
ders, ns he finds hy experience, nnd from
the opinion of tlie ' most eminent of tile fa
culty, that tho water made from them pos
sesses Iho same medicinal qualities, is ns
effectual in its operations, and'-precise in
taste, as Mint taken immediately from tile
Springs. Thoso |iowders are therefore re
commended ns a vafpable remedy in all
cases where tlie Saratoga Waters are pre
scribed.
Peisnnwn sea voyngcs.or residing nt p
distnnoelrom tlie springs, and in .wiltrn
climates, will at once perceive tho groat
advantage of making use of these powders,
which besides being more portable, nnd
less expensive than tho bottled wnter, will
keep without injury foypny length of tiriie,
as they are equal in medical effect to that
tnken fresh from tho springs, tliev aro cer
tainly much preferable from tlie many ad
vantages they possess.
05 s ” These powders are superior to the
Seidlitz, inasmuch ns they are equally a-
porient end .ngreonhle, at tlie same time
possessing!#|iicand chalybeate qualities in
a superior degree, nnd are consequently
better adapted to weak and debilitated
constitutions than any other cathartic in
