PAIN K I I. LI' li,
Drnrqrg, May 5, 1853.
Gentlemen:—I feel unde* obligations in you for the
benefit l have received from yourmvuluuble Pain Killer.
We have had some cholera h- re on the Mlssissppi
thuseurly in ihe season. A few days since l assisted in
"laying out" and burying one of our citizens who was
supposed to have died with the disease. The next
morning I was taken wilh severe vomiting, accompanied
with coldness of the extreiuetles. Warm covering and
hot application* failed Io res'ore warmth. M- wife's
family, who hud used tho Pain Killer with sue esgdur
ing the cholera season tn : uffulu in 1849, advised me to
take it. I took two doses at inervals of fifteen minutes;
a fine perspiration ensued, and the next day, barring &
little weakness, i was well, and have Decn since.
It may have been nn attack of Ague, but whether
Ague or Cholera, it answered iny purpose,
8ince my recovery. I Und that several of our citizens
have used tho Pain Killer as a remedy for Cholera, and
pmoonneed it good. I therefore take pleasure in re
commending it to a still more extended nonce.
Yours, truly, VV. M.CRt'ZIKR,
Attorney at Law.
Perry Davis k 8oa, Providence. R. I.
This may certify, that I have used Perry Davis’ V«ge-
able Pain Killer in numerous cases, and believe it to
be a very valuable medicine I have prescribed It ex
tensively in I'owelcomplaint, (particularly forchlldren.)
and it is in my opinion, superior to any preparation I
have ever used lor the relief nt those diseases.

RANDALL & MERCER'S
C'ottoii-Sccd Drill.
A I.I. I’lnntera have realized tho want of a machine
to drill f'otlon ■’w d with regularity and certainty.
< *ne that would operate equally well on every kind of
land, and at the same lime bo so simple in construction
and operation that It could be used by aegrooa without
liability of getting out ol order. A drill which we think
poi-se*tva ail tbe*e qiiall'fes, we now offer to the plant
ing community. After a thorough trial for the last two
years In different hands on all klooaof land, we woold
state some ot the advantages to be derived from their
«se.
1st. The saving of seed, which will amount to enough
in planting one hundred acres, to pay Ibr the machine.
2nd. Tin- raving of labor in planting, one bone and
hand only fe-lng required to open the furrow, drop the
ved und cover iron, seven to nine acres per day.
3rd. The great saving of labor in chopping out, the
seal being deposited in a line ono after another.
4th. Thu great raving in subsequent hoe work, owing
to tho fact that any good plow-hand can. In tiding, cov
er all the first crop of grass in tho drill, however anall
Hie cotton may be, without Injuring the stand.
These advantages all l arm era will appreciate; and be*
low we give some certificates, from which the public
con learn how there drills are appreciated by gentlemen
of the first standing in our section of the ritate— all
practical farmers, who have thoroughly tested them,
and aru consequently fully competent to decide on Iheif
merits.
CERTIFICATES:
This is to certify that I planted one hundred and six
ty acres of cotton wiih Randall and Mereer’s Planters,
uud 1 consider them superior to any thing of the kind I
have ever seen or tried. The saving of seed alone would
pay for the machines in a season or two, and I think a
hand can do one-third more hoeing than be could In
cotton planted the common way.

.Messrs. Randall A- Mercer—Gentlemen: In reply to
yours of this date, lean say with satisttetion, that I
havn used your cotton seed drills on the farm of D. A.
V ason. Esq., with great success. I consider mem to bo
ol great value. They aru a saving of about one-thiri
of the labor of cultivation, about two to three bushels
of seed to the acre In planting, and a great saving of
mborln planting, os they open the farrow, drop and
cover th seed wilh one horse and hand. 1 think *»>re
worth one buhdred dollars a piece to any planter, that
plants lull crops of cotton. As far myself I would not
R iant a crop of cotton without them tor no consideration

I have used Rnndall k Mercer’s cotton Planter two

tinn. as the cotton ts sowed in so uarrow a line that with
good plowing there is but little hoe work needed. Thera
is also n saving of hands and horses in planting. I
should say they were worth one hundred dollars each,

It is the desideratum and long sought after.
Many aud varied have been the attempts or Intelligent
