Notwithstanding we hIiow an increase in tlie
nuiiil/cr of our cars of 4‘), as almve stated, 1 fear
that we have lost quite a iiiiinbcr fmin accidents
on other Roads that have not been accounted lor;
so that, probably, if an accurate account could
be Liken now, we would not have increased over
the number reported lost year more than ten or
twelve. My reason for apprelieudiug this result
is the fact that, in taking an invent *ry of our
cars recently, we missed the same numbers that
could not lie found la-t year. My report of the
nuinlicr of ears owned Ty the ( ompuny is pre
dicated upon an inventory taken hemre we
crossed the Oemulgee, und the luuuber of ears
since I,ought and built. If it is really true that
we have hist ears upon other Roads, it is all ar
gument In favor oi transhipping. This policy
would probably have been adopted at Atlanta,
but lor the want of cars on the State Road, and
u convenient place to make the transfer.
Our city lor the la-t year 1ms been blessed
with its usual good health, hut on the line of
Road we have laid more sickness than I have
know u for a minilier of years.
