We understand that the postmaster
at Blacksbier, refuses to receive the
Sentinel from the freight train unless
accompanied by a certificate from the
postmaster at Jesup, that the postage
on it bas been paid. For his informa
tion we will state that the only reason
we transmit our paper by freight, is to
put it into the hands of onr subscribers
as soon as possible. As far as the post
age is concerned, we always pay that.

The election passed off quietly, there
were but few votes polled, owing main
ly to the heavy rain.
A large drift of timber went out of
the Phin Holloway, for Daiien the pust
week.
Mr. J. T. Striokland, had the misfor
tunc to have a raft of 200 sticks broken
up on the Altamaka, in what is Known
as the brick yard cut, near Clark’s
Bluff. There is a probability of bis
saving a portion of it.
We are informed that there is a large
raft broken up and soatteied in the A.I
tamaha, at a place called “Old Hell,"
just above tbe mouth of the Phin Hol
loway.
The people of Glynn county, have
been having the Blues for the past six
or seven years, but at tbe election just
passed they decided to take Limu, for
tho next year or so,
W. H. Whaley & Bou, have just re
ceived a large and varied assortment of
Toys and fancy goods of ail k'nds and
description for the holidays, which they
will sell at reduced figures. Persons
purchasing toys for their children will
do well to give them a call.

Timber men is blest with eool weath
er on the river this week,
Mr. R. G. Middleton is back in
town this week, from Florida. He
looks to have the Florida complaint al
ready.
Mr Wrenfrow, has taken the
place of J. W. Brothers as supervisor
on this division.
The town council will meet on the
first Saturday in January, to elect a
now board and officers.
You, who have not paid your taxes
may look out soon for the officer—and
von will eave costs to come at once and
settle up.
Several fellows bad fine sport in town
last Monday night, shooting anvils in
congratulation of Holton’s victory
We were ioformed last Monday that
Price Roberts was drowned on that day
in the Altamaha River—caused by a
raft tearing up and scattering.
There was a grand vocal, instrumen
tal and parlor entertainment given by
Prof. Clifford (blind minatrel), last Sat
urday and Monday nights in St-rick-
Und’s Hall. There were several pres
ent and think the oil gentleman done
well'
