Young Couple from Worth
County Were Wedded Af
ter Outwitting the Irate
Father.
Love triumphed again yesterday In
the case Of Miss Laura West and Al
fred Hall, both of Worth county, whose
efforts to realize love’s young dream
led them o’er a rocky road.
Yesterday’s Herald told of the flight
of the pair from their home to this j
city. Parental objection in the young
ladys’ family made their marriage un
der her father’s roof, or even In that
neighborhood, impossible. But the
fact that they had come to Albany was
soon discovered, and Benjamin West
telephoned to Ordinary Samuel W.
Smith that the runaway girl was under
age. He forbade the Issuance of a
marriage license. The message reach
ed the court house barely In time to
checkmate young Hill and his sweet
heart.
The irate father of the young lady
reached the city a few minutes before
noon on a Coast Line train, hut was
unable to locate the runaways, though
he made diligent efforts to do so.
That is where strategy was em
ployed by the lovers, with glorious re
sults. They caused a report to reach
the young lady’s father that they had
taken the mid-day Central train for
Leesburg, or some other point up the
road. Father promptly took the bait,
and did some more long distance tele
phoning.
But what actually oocurred was
this: Young Hill and his sweetheart
enlisted the aid of Tax Collector J. T,

the good news was broken to him Is
not stated on the records of the or

have prvolded an acceptable wedding
present.
