ieautiful New Linens for Shirtwaists. Shirts and Eton Suits
H " Among the favorite wash fabrics for spring, the popular-white linens seem ideal for this climate. They are cool and
: comfortable, stylish and serviceable. For a shirtwaist, a separate skirt or an eton suit no better material could be chosen.
Unusually attractive and stylish effects may be secured by using black velvet ribbon in connection with Cluiney lace
tand embroidery in trimming extremely fashionable eton suits of white linen. We invite your inspection of our window
• display which shows some especially pretty examples of linen suits trimmed with velvet ribbon, embroidery and Cluney.

Atlanta, Ga., March 5.—The move
ment now on foot to raise among the
employes' of the Nashville, Chatta
nooga & St. Louis railroad a fund of
$15,000 for the erection of a lianil-
ne monument * to the memory of
Major John W. Thomas, who was
president of the road at his death,
which occurred recently, has met the
unanimous indorsement of the Atlan
ta men connected with the road; and
the indications are that the necessary
amount will be secured in a very short
time. The matter is in the hands of a
special committee composed of M. L.
Collier, master mechnnic; J. A. Bald
win, assistant superintendent, and D.
B. Carter, freight agent. The move
ment had its inception at Nashville.
It began among the men who wear the
overalls and do the lioavy work about
the shops. Major. Thomas was as
much beloved by these men as he was
by those high in authority on the sys
tem of which he was the hqad.

New York, March 5.—Although ev
ery effort has been made to keep the
fact secret, it is revealed that after
the dinner of the Life Underwriters
of New York, in the Hotel Savoy last
Wednesday night, at which Paul Mor
ton, president of the Equitable Life
Assurance Society, was the principal
speaker, some fifty of the general
agents met and organized themselves
into an “endless chain” political or
ganization.
The platform adopted was that the
“endless chain” organization do every
thing possible to defeat the members
of the Armstrong committee whenever
they should come up in future for el^q-

blacklist of all members of the legis
lature who should vote to enact into
law the recommendations of the Arm
strong committee limiting new busi
ness and cutting down the commis
sions of agents.
Each of the fifty agents who entered
the ‘‘endless chain” pledged himself
to get twenty other agents to join the
chain, oil condition that each of the
other twenty should pledge himself to
array at least twenty more agents
against the committeemen and the
members of the legislature placed on
the blaaklist.
By that process it was designed to
get into a political organization all
the insurance agents in the state, to
the number of many thousands. It
was figured out that the fifty men
would get In one thousand in the first
chain, that the one thousand would
get in twenty thousand in the second
chain, and the twenty thousand could
get in four hundred thousand agents
and friends in the third chain.
. “It Is to he a perpetual organiza

asked to become a member of the sec

in all parts of the state against every
body who assists in the work of limit
ing new business or cutting down
commissions.”

Startling But True.
People the world over were horrified
on learning of the burning of a Chica
go theatre In which nearly six hundred
people lost their lives, yet more than
five times this number, or over 3,000
people, died from pneumonia in Chi
cago during the same year, with
scarcely a passing notice. Every one
of these cases of pneumonia resulted
from a cold and could have been pre
vented by the timely use of Chatnber-
lnln’s Cough Remedy. A great many
who had every reason to fear pneu
monia have warded it off by the
prompt use of this remedy. The fol
lowing Is an Instance of this sort:
