IN A “LOT OF TROUBLE.”
Sentenced to be Hanged In Mississippi.
8ays He Is a Native of Lee County,
Ga.
One Sam Roberson, who says he was
born and raised In Lee county, this
state, is in trouble over In Mississippi,
and he Is anxious for his relaUves and
friends to know about it
The following letter to the Savan
nah News tells of the serious nature
of his trouble:
"Hattiesburg, Miss., April 2, 190IJ.—
Will you please be so kind as to put
an advertisement In your paper for
me? I want to find my uncle, Sam
Peters. He Is somewhere in Georgia
or Florida.
"I am in a lot of trouble. I am to
be hung in June and I want to get
my people word, if there is any ohance.
“I don't know just where they are
at. So will you be so kind as to help
me find them through your paper.
Hoping you will advise me, I am In
Hattiesburg jail. Yours truly, Sam
Roberson.
“My home is at Phllema, Ga. My
mothers’ name is Pacion Roberson; I
was born and raised In Lee county.
Yours truly, Sam Roberson.”

friends, or he would never have taken
this method of attempting to locate
his relatives.

Beginning on Monday and continu
ing for seven days, tho great Hebreyr
festival of the Passover will be ob
served. It is one of the Important oc
casions of religious significance on the
Hebrew Calendar, and Is observed by
the people of that faith the world over.
The Passover Is commemorative of
the Immunity of the Israelites In Egypt
during the period of their bondage,
when the destroying angel passed over
the land and Blew the first-born of
every Egyptian household, sparing the
first-born of Israel. The celebration
was inaugurated by Moses, and origin-
ally was observed by the sacrifice of
Passover lambs, which were afterward
eaten.
During the celebration of the Pass-
over those of the JewlBh faith eat
bread whloh has no leaven, and on
the first and last days of the seven
they abstain from all labor. In the
homes of most Jewish families there
are various rites and celebrations com
memorative of the festival, and ser
vices are held In all houses of Jewish
worship.
