Biology ku Frond that Dsndrnff la
Oatucd by a Germ.
Science la donlg wonders these days In
medicine as well as'in mechanics. Sines
Adam lived, the human race has been
troubled with dandruff, for which no hair!
preparation has heretofore proved a sue- 1
ccsaful cure until Newbro’s Herplclde was
put on the market. It Is a; scientific prep-.
aration that kills the germ that makes '
dandruff or scurf by digging Into the
scalp to get at the root of the hair, where
It saps the vitality; causing Itching scalp,
falling hair, ,and finally baldness. With,
out dandruff hair must grow luxuriantly.
It la the only destroyer of dandruff.

ire You Repenting at
Leisure ?
This is about Stoves and Ranges.
There are various makes of good or better of
these indispensable kitchen utilities, but there is one
all-important point which the average person over
looks when making a selection. That point is this: .
In the event of a broken section, how easy will
be to replace it ? l
Under ordinary conditions, it is a question of
two or three wefcks. It is a matter of great incon-
S venience, of heavy extra expense, and perhaps dis
appointment in the end.
You of course know something about the famous
“NATIONAL” Ranges and the incomparable “EN
TERPRISE” Stoves which we have been handling
to the exclusion of all others for several years.
But do you know that ours is the only firm in this
whole section which carries in stock a complete out
fit of duplicate parts for every “NATIONAL” Range
and “ENTERPRISE” Stove that is manufactured?
If one of our customers telephones after break-
| fast that any part of her stove has met with an acci-
II' dent, we are in position to repair the damage in time
for dinner to be prepared on time. And the repairing
is perfectly done by men who have done practically
' no other character of work in thirty years.
These are important points which will not be
overlooked by the level-headed and far-seeing house
keeper. And they explain in part why we are sell
ing hundreds of “NATIONALS” and “ENTER
PRISES ” every year.

The T. P. A.’s are patronizing the
picture postcard these days. The pop
ularity of the postcard defends a lot
upon Its usefulness. When anyone
goes away from home, Ills friends In
parting admonish him: “Now, you
must write to me.” It’s far less trou
ble to walk into a store, buy a few
postcards and mall, them than It Is
to sit down and write several letters,
amid porsplratlon and “cusb words.”
The picture postcard has come to Btay.
The designs are snappy and up to
date, and artistically executed. The
designers of these are gifted with a
strong sonse of humor, and are really
geniuses In their line.

This morning at the corner of Broad
and Washington streets, Quintus Land,
a young man in the employ of the Bell
Telephone Co., was painfully, but not
seriously Injured.
Land and Pryor ^Roper, another of
the employes, went out to repair some
break in the connection on a pole at
the corner of Broad and Washington
streets. Roper, with a set case thrown
over his shoulder by means of a strap,
ascended the pole 'first. When about
fifteen feet up the pole, the strap be
came unbuckled and the set case fell,
striking Land on the back of the neck.
Land was following Roper up the pole,
and had gone only a few feet. He was
taken to Dr. Hllsmans’ office and the
wound was dressed. The back of his
head was skinned and his right shoul
der painfully bruised. At first he was
stunned by the blow, but now, beyond
the Injuries mentioned, he Is not seri-
ouBly hurt.

■Uda« Bread vrira sea WIMp,
At oqe time sea water was 3ised In
tome English seaside places when mak
ing bread. Even now villages along the
coast line of France utilize It Freeh
rain or spring water Is only used for
the leaven, pure sea water being exclu
sively employed for the making and
mixing of the dough. By this method
no mineral or table salt requires to be
added, the natural salt water giving
the bread the necessary degree of sa
linity. But, though sen water does ad
mirably for breadmaking, wben ap
plied to other culinary purposes the
result is a disagreeable failure. The
wheaten bread produced by It, how
ever, Is excellent and of great hygienic
value. The chloride, of magnesium,
which Imparts the acrid taste to sea
water, Is decomposed In the heating
and therefore does not convoy Its origi
nal disagreeable taste to tiro bread,
while the common salt, of cow.o, per
manently retains all Its characteristic
saline properties. The mineral sub
stances left in the baked bread are con
sidered to be of the nature of very mild
regulating medicines.—London Mali.
