ON SU .PICIOA
Suspicions amongst thoughts,
uve iike bats among birds; they
ever fly by twilight, they must
be repressed ; or, at least, well
guarded. They croud the mind,
sthev lose friends, and they check
with business, whereby business
cast not go on currently and con
stantly ; taev disoose husbands to
> -aiousy, wose m n to irresolu
tion and melancholy—they are
and V cis, not in the heart, but in
the bram.
There is nothing makes a man
inspect much, more than to know
lithe ; md, therefore, men should
remedy suspicion by procuring
ro know more, and to smother
their suspicions. What would
Tien have: Do not they think those
they employ and deal with, are
saints ? Do they think they will
have their own ends and be truer
to them selves than to them ?
Suspicions that the mind of it
self gatm-rsare but buzzes ; hut
suspicions that are artificially
nourished, and put into men's
heads by me ta-es and whisper
ings ci ethers, have stings. Car
i-drdy, the best Way to clear sus
picions, is frankly to communi
cate them to the party he suspects
—as he ws I then know more of
ihe truth, than he did before—
crake him more c fcunaspect not
to give fu- ther cm se of suspicion
*—but m’ “ o. bvse natures, when
they hud themselves once sus
pected, wii) never be true after
wards. G.
