Mexican Patriots, —An article
from New-Orleans, dated Sept.
16th, expressly contradicts the
rumor of the American schoon
er Swift, bound from that port to
Naasau, having been taken by
! the Mexican Patriot squadron
now cruising in the Gulph. The
Swift arrived safely at her port
of destination, without having e
ven been boarded by a Mexican
vessel. The story was put afloat
by the enemies of the Patriot
cause. “We seize this opportu -
nity (says the New-Qdeans wri
ter) to forewarn the public against
all the attempts which will not
fail to be made to throw discredit
on the cause of the Mexican Pat
riots. They make war fairly up
on the Spaniards, and upon them
alone; and neither the Amen
cans nor any other neutral have
any thing to fear from them. \Ve
have certain information which
enables us to judge of their in
tentions. No neutral h*s yet had
any vexation to complain of, and
we know positively, that the Mex
ican cruisers have most precise
;orders in that respect, and that
| they besides are expressly forbici
iden to violate, in any manner
whatever, the fiscal laws of the
United States.”
