The Sun.
NEW YORK, 1884.
About sixty million copies of The
SUN have gone out of our catalilishmeiit
during the peat twelve months.
If you were to paste end to end all the I
columns of all The Suns printed and
auld last year you would got a continu
ous atrip of interesting information,
common sense, wisdom, sound doctrine,
ami sane wit long enough to reach from I
Printing House Square to the top of I
Mount Copernicus in the moon, then 1
lock to Printing House Square, and then
timy-quarteiM of the way back to tha
muon again.
But The Sun is written for the inhabi
tants of the earth; this same strip of in
telligence would girdle the globe twenty-
seven or twenty-eight times.
If every buyer of a copy of Thr Sun
I during the past year has spent only one
’hour over it, ana if his wifeorhisgrand-
f father has spent another hour, this news-
I paper in 1KX3 has afforded the human
race thirteen thousand yean of steady
reading night and day.
It ia only by little calculations like
these that you can form any idea of the
I circulation af the moat popular of Amer
ican newspapers, or of its influence on
the opinions and actions of American
men and women.
Thr Sun ia, and will continue to be,
a newspaper which tells the truth with
out fear ot consequences, which feta at
the facta no matter how much the pro-
«» costa, which presents the news of all
