This Convention has been a
most potent factor in encourag¬

county to acquaint themselve 6
with vocal and instrumental
music. The Convention lias
been ublv officered from time to

Improve the Roads.
The question of improving the
public roads of the county should
not be dropped, The roads
have been classified and it would
be a fine thing to have the roads
in good condition before the
winter weather and rains are up¬
on us. A 11 ounce of prevention is
said to be worth a pound of cure
It would apply in the matter of
working public roads. There is
expected to lie a hero-after
about this road business any¬
how.
Adel had a real live, up-to-
date runaway last week. A care¬
less driver, and a spirited horse
and a one-horse wagon furnish¬
ed component parts. The fight
was to a finish and at the end of
the last round, when the smoke
of battli cleared away, it re¬
minded us of the scene described
in the old fable of the wind and
the sun where they tried their
power on a traveler and the ex¬
ertions of the wind “made the
whole forest look like a wreck.”
