Sheriff Swindle was robbed^in
Tift 011 last week. He spent Wed¬
nesday night at the Klomlyke res¬
taurant and some time in the night
some body entered his room and
rifled his pockets, carrying away
besides a fine gold watch and a big
P* so of money, several hundred
; rs worth of checks and valu-
court papers, several railroad
pa- 's and the jail keys. All <-f
these were found and recovered
e.x >t the watch and money. A
young white man was arrested on
suspicion bnt we do not know
whether there is a strong case a-
gai 11 st him or not. The crime is
one of the boldest on record and
the perpetrator will have to be
wary indeed or Sheriff Swindle

Protect The Tots.
We have been asked by a ten¬
der hearted mother to caution
parents about allowing children
to play on or about the railroad.
The little fellows are often in the
gravest danger without being a-
ware of it and are beyond the
reach of parents. Only this week
a little tot in the Booth'* end of
town was distressingly near.death,
almost falling under a passing
freight train. Then, too, there
is the danger of snapping, snarl¬
ing dogs which infest the town to
such an alarming extent The
town would be a great deal bet¬
ter off if many of these worthless
curs vvoul 1 come in contact with
the dog killer. Keep a w atchful
eye on the unsus; ectit g hopeful.
