married to Mr. John Williams, a
prosperous young man of that
neighb orhood. Judge R. K. Tur¬
ner of Nashville performed the
ceremony in the presence of quite
a number of friends of the young
couple. They begin life with
bright prospects and we join their
many friends in tendering our
best wishes.

Wedding Near Greggs.

At the home of Mr. and
H. 8 . Wingate, the parents
the biide, occurred a notable wed¬
ding Sunday when rheir daughter
Miss Sallie was married to Mr.
Mansfield McKinney. Rev. J. W.
Wells performed the ceremony
which united them in the holy
estate of wedlock. The wedding
occurred at the Wingate home
near Greggs and a large circle-of
friends were present to witness
the ceremony and to wish them
a happy beginning in their new
relation.

New Letter Carrier.
Tommie Chestnut, who carries
the mail to Ray’s Mill stales that
lie is having some competition in
his lino of business just new. A
few days ago a blue bird took a
letter from an open mail box at
Mr, Patty DeVane’s and flew a-
way with it. The strange act was
witnessed by members of the fam¬

which was recovered and sent on

Hanging At Vienna
John Henry Peavv, n negro
murderer, was hanged at Vienna
last Saturday. Peavv killed J< s-
se Ford, another negro, last July
and lias since Veen convicted of
the crime. He was sentenced to
be hanged a month ago but was
respited for thirty days in order
that he might he used as a witness
for the state at a r* cent term of
Dooly superior court.
