Prof. Glenn’s Speech.
Hon. G R. Glenn, State School
Commissioner, was in Nashville
Monday and during the noon re¬
cess of court delivered a spirited
educational address. Rewasin-
troducsd by Col. J. H. Gary,
County School Commissioner, in
a very appropriate manner.
Prof, Glenn briefly alluded to
the charges which gom« of his op-
ponents were making against him
and stated that he would not use
political methods to retain the
office. He then made an earnest
and eloqueut plea for an eduea-
tional system that would provide
for a course of manual training
along with the book wtrk of the
public schools, He dwelt at
length upon the progress of mod-
era inventions and stated that fu-
ture demands would be great up-
on the rising generation.
The line of thought was.follow¬
ed closely by the interested hear-
ers aud at the conclusion of the
address the speaker was warmly
applauded.
