SCHOOL NOTES.
! The door* of the Adel Institute
were thrown open to the public
j Friday afternoon and a most in¬
tereating program rendered. The
little boys and girl* recited their
piece* admirably, showing talent
and training on their own part as
well as that of their teachers.
The subject “Resolved that
home influence is a greater factor
in developing good citizenship
than school training’' was debat-
ed by the larger girls. The af~
Srmative speaker* i were Misses
Minnie Tucker, Jessie bhaw and
Mamie Shaw. Misses Viola
Hut< . lliMM1 and 8,, lie Benders,
were the negative speakers. The
argument* were clear and logical
on both sides, although the judges
felt constrained to give the decis-
iou to the affirmative.
Quite a number of patrons and
friends of the school were present
as spectators and were greatly
pleased With th« exercises.
Patrons present were asked for
an expression a* to their wishes
■*, rAvgrj to the rlosim^
tor the term. All present were
decidedly in favor of making the
occasion one worthy \ note and
the teachers were informed that
any needed support would be
given. So, it is highly probable
that commencement week this
year will be an eveat of surpass¬
ing excellence.

admired as a soldier and as a
statesman from a southern stand-

Good For Rheumatism.
Last fall I was taken with a very
severe attack of muscular rheu¬
matism which caused me great
pain and annoyance. After try¬
ing several prescriptions and
rheumatic cures, I decided tc use
Chamberlains Pain Balm, which
I had seen advertised in the South
Jerseyman. After two applica¬
tions of this remedy I was much
better, and after using one bottle
was completely cured.—Sallie

Killed a Large Eagle.
Mr. J. E. Webb killed a large
bald eagle on his place in the up¬
per part of the county one day-
last week. He went out in his
field and got pretty close to the
big bird before it flew up. Tbs
bird measured a little over seven
feet from the tip of one wing to
the other. The bird was only
wounded, but died that night.
Mr. Webb expected to bring it t«
the zoo Imre if it had not died.—
